LEAGUE CUP VILLA 5-0 LIVERPOOL KODJIA KILLS OF ANY ANFIELD HOPE Hourihane whips it in low, Kodjia is among those jumping in front of Kelleher and the keeper loses sight of it, diving too late and watching the ball skid past him and into the corner. That’ll settle Villa, who had been unimpressive.  Villa look relieved by the opener and sweep upfield again, working the ball right to the overlapping Elmohamady. His cross flicks off Boyes and loops high into the sky before dropping beyond a helpless Kelleher and into the corner.  Villa win a 50/50 in midfield and Jota releases Kodjia, who races through and finishes coolly. Very harsh lesson, this, for Liverpool’s youngsters. Villa’s best-worked of the bunch, Elmohamady sliding across a precise centre and Kodjia applying a clinical finish. This deeply weird game now stands at 4-0 to Villa. With the game’s last action Wesley gets his goal! It’s well taken, running round the ball when sent away on the left of the...

FA PREMIERE LEAGUE LIVERPOOL 2-0 WATTFORD SALAH SINKS IT   The corner was half cleared towards Firmino, who improvised superbly to volley the loose ball over his head to Mane. He moved it down the inside-left channel to Salah, who Cruyff-turned away from Kiko Femenia on the edge of the area and toed a right-footed curler that drifted into the far corner. Brilliant goal.  Liverpool split Watford open with two fine passes from Alexander-Arnold and then Oxlade-Chamberlain, who slid the ball down the inside-right channel to release Mane. He cut it back carefully to Origi, who made a hopeless mess of his first-time shot. It was bobbling wide of goal when Salah improvised to flick the ball behind his standing leg and into the net. It looked like it was going to be disallowed for offside, but eventually the VAR folk decided his heel was level with Kabasele’s. https://www.theguardian.com/football/live/2019/dec/14/liverpool-v-watford-premier-league-live MY O...

EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS CUP POOL 3 QUINS 10-34 ULSTER COONEY COLAB In a drab first half, Ulster made a poor start as the early concession of a penalty, a serious-looking shoulder/pectoral injury to out-half Billy Burns (from which he recovered to play on), Cooney failing to find the mark with a penalty touch-finder and a Burns knock on within his 22 all combined to put them on the back foot inside the first five minutes. Harlequins seemed invigorated by such a moment of defence, and responded by carving out two line-breaks into the Ulster 22 almost immediately - both via lock forward Stephan Lewies. The second of those forays forced a penalty against Ulster for holding on, which centre James Lang then dispatched for 3-3. Upon receiving a Stuart McCloskey pass within the 22 off a defensive scrum, Cooney's half-back partner Burns scythed through the Quins line for the initial break before offloading to Jacob Stockdale. The full-back sprinted forward and found wing Fadde...

13-12-19 Europa league final day

UEFA EUROPA LEAGUE MAN UNITED 4-0 AZ ALKMAR MAGNIFICO MATA Pereira brilliantly skills   his way past two opponents at the left-hand corner flag, backheeling to Mata. He gives it back and Pereira slides infield to Matic, whose first-time ball from just outside the box picks out Mata, who has been busy cutting into a congested penalty area from the left. The Spaniard controls and slides across goal, and though Martial hasn’t anticipated it, meaning the ball rolls across goal without anyone tapping it in, Young pops up well beyond the far post to thunder it into the roof of the net from an acute angle! Fredrik Midtsjo wins the ball on his right wing and embarks on a ludicrously misguided jog infield, which ends when he’s bang central, 10 yards outside his area, and James Garner tackles him. The ball rolls to Greenwood, who takes one touch and then hits a low left-footer into the corner! Greenwood is bundled over by Clasie in the penalty area, as clear a penalty as you’re ...
