MLS QUARTER FINAL 2 AND 3 LEG 1 31-12-17

Image
MLS PLAY OFFS NEW YORK 1-2 TORONTO GENIUS GIOVINCO Following a New York turnover, Vazquez fed Jozy Altidore, whose cross from the right flank ricocheted off goalkeeper Luis Robles to Vazquez near the top of the box for the finish. After Bradley Wright-Phillips drew a penalty on Drew Moor, Daniel Royer scored from the spot in first-half stoppage time on New York's first shot on goal. Giovinco drew a foul conceded by Felipe Martins just outside the box and then bent the free kick over a four-man wall to make it 2-1 in the 72nd minute. http://www.espn.co.uk/football/report?gameId=498043 MY OPINION New York have hope but would not be a club expecting to go further in the competition than they are. Toronto if they play a smart game should be able to get out of this situation without any sense of worry or stress as they can wide down the clock and play a defensive line. For New York to believe they must score first. VANCOVER 0-0 SEATTLE SOLID SEATT...

30-0-17 MLS QUARTER FINAL 1

MLS QUARTER FINAL FIRST LEG VACOVER 0-0 SEATTLE POOR DRAW KEEPS TIE EVEN Reigning MLS Cup champions the Sounders went closest to finding a winner at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, with Kendall Waston almost scoring a first-half own goal. But Seattle, who finished second during the regular season and were without the suspended Clint Dempsey, will instead head home for the second leg on Thursday in a good position. Brek Shea had an effort cleared off the line on the half-hour mark for Carl Robinson's Whitecaps, who then almost fell behind. A Joevin Jones cross from the left was turned onto his own crossbar by Waston as the teams remained level. https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/vancouver-whitecaps-0-seattle-sounders-0-dour-stalemate-first-leg#xoCkZX78AbtqfZD0.99 MY OPINION Th8is makes Thursdays tie very int5resting as a second leg as we can see that both teams have got a good chance of reaching the semi-finals. If both teams don’t go out with an atta...

MLS PLAY OFFS NEW YORK RED BULLS 4-0 CHICARGO FIRE WRIGHT PHILLIPS STARTS CHICAGO  MESS Bradley Wright-Phillips started proceedings early in the seventh minute after receiving a chipped through-ball from Damien Perrinelle. The Englishman failed to get a touch initially but, after a misplay by Fire goalkeeper Matt Lampson, he was able to finish into an empty net. The goal was his eighth all-time in the MLS Cup Playoffs, moving him into a tie for tenth all-time. Sacha Kljestan added a goal of his own just four minutes later after Tyler Adams was able to sneak a cross on the ground into the box. Daniel Royer added a third in the second half to put the match away after a Dax McCarty turnover in the midfield. Gonzalo Veron provided the capper after Kljestan put him in 1v1 against Lampson. The Argentine chipped his shot over the onrushing 'keeper to put the Red Bulls up four. https://matchcenter.mlssoccer.com/matchcenter/2017-10-25-chicago-fire-vs-new-york-red-...

football league cup quarter final draw 27-10-17

Image
The league cup draw was delayed by 2 hours last night on video but here is the ties as they came out  and what I think Bristol City v Man United Home advantage could make a massive difference here and could make an easy tie tricky but if United play a strong side with quality players I think Bristol have no hope. Arsenal V West Ham Winning a trophy is so important to Arsenal this season but West ham normally would fear no one this could be interesting Chelsea v Bournemouth Chelsea should have the quality to make a difference even with a weakened team in this match but Bournemouth have Defoe who can change something 2within an instant   Leicester v Man City This tie depends on which Leicester teams comes o7ut and plays the one that won the league and look on top of their game or this one that is struggling in the league. It does not matter what City do but if they field a weakened team Leicester should win

26-10-17 LEAGUE CUP LAST 16

FOOTBALL LEAGUE CUP LAST 16 CHELSEA 2-1 EVERTON LATE WILLIAN GOAL MADE THE DIFFERENCE Willian scored the decisive second as Chelsea advanced to the quarter-finals but they were pushed to the final whistle by the rejuvenated visitors. Chelsea had contained Everton with ease in the first half and led through Antonio Rudiger's looping header. But the Toffees were sharper after the break as Kevin Mirallas had a shot well saved and Ademola Lookman hit the bar. Willian drilled a superb low finish home in stoppage time before Dominic Calvert-Lewin netted a consolation. MY OPINION A win here would have done more good for Eveerton as the teams in the Champions League consider this tournament a bit of a distraction. Chelse did show in this match that they have the class needed to compete with the 2 Manchester clubs. As for Everton they are in the relegation zone and would have targeted the league cup as something to get them out of the rut that they are in S...

24-10-17 LEAGUE CUP

LEAGUE CUP LAST 16 ARSENAL 2-1 NORWICH NKEITIAH GIVES ARSWEN LIFELINE Norwich had taken the lead when James Maddison's pass released Josh Murphy, who dinked a shot past Gunners debutant goalkeeper Matt Macey. Those misses proved crucial as Nketiah grabbed a late equaliser from close range only 15 seconds after coming on to leave it level after 90 minutes. The England Under-19 international then headed in from Mohamed Elneny's corner for the winner. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/41647092 MY OPINION This result makes me thing the cup is destined to win as they scored in the last possible minute with a youth player and they might have found a gem but will they loan him to death as that is what some big clubs do. Norwich have had their chances during the match to win it but could not take them and that is something needed to work out in training.
