31-7-17 challenge cup semis

Image
CHALENGE CUP SEMI FINAL WIGAN 27-14 SALFORD GILDART DOUBLE PUTS WARRIORS IN FINAL Warriors raced into a 12-0 lead with scores from Oliver Gildart and Willie Isa, and two George Williams goals. Salford hit back to lead at half-time through Michael Dobson's penalty after Greg Johnson and Tyrone McCarthy tries. Williams' penalty levelled the semi-final before Michael McIlorum's score, Sam Tomkins' drop-goal and Gildart's late second try sent Wigan to Wembley. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/40711179 MY OPINION Wigan are one of the biggest teams in the world and should be playing for a trophy every season. They without a doubt are having a bad season at the moment but winning the Challenge Cup would make up for that. For Salford though getting as far as they did must have been a surprise doing so well this season and they must now try to make sure of a top 4 finish. ALL IRELAND  QUALIFIERS DOWN 1-16 1-24 MONIHAN MC MANANAS MAGNIFICENT  MAGIC Down led 0-7 to 0-4 before a Fintan Kelly goal put Monaghan ahead but Connaire Harrison netted as the sides went in level at 1-9 each at the break. With subs Conor McCarthy and Jack McCarron impressing, Monaghan hit five straight points to lead 1-16 to 1-11. As Monaghan stayed in control, Conor McManus finished with 0-10. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/gaelic-games/40748712 MY OPINION This was a good win for Monahan especially after losing to Down in the Ulster championship. This Monahan team are improving as the year goes on but I feel that they do not have the time to gives themselves the improvement needed going forward. ARMAGH 1-17 0-17 KILDARE MURININ GOAL CHANGES EVERYTHING Andrew Murnin's goal just before half-time proved the crucial score as his forward colleague Jamie Clarke produced a display of running and invention. Armagh led 1-8 to 0-8 at h...

pdc darts world match play quarters 28-7-17

Image
We are now in the middle of the quarter finals of the PDC world match play and without a doubt the player of the tournament so far is Daryl Gurney from Northern Ireland after beating Mensur Suljovic from Austria-13. Gurney is beginning to show he has the class to beat anyone In the other quarter final Scotsman Peter Wright and his amazing hair defeated Englishman Darren Webster by 16 legs to 11 this could lead to a very interesting semi-final against Gurney. I think both players have the potential to win the whole tournament.

UEFA EUROPA LEAGUE ABERDEEN 2-1 ABOLLON  LIMASSOL SHINNE KEEPS DONS IN TIE The home side surged to an early lead at Pittodrie when Ryan Christie scored with a header after just four minutes. The Cypriot side grew in confidence and stature in the second half, though, and equalised through Ribeiro Santana. Yet indiscipline cost the visitors, with Esteban Sachetti dismissed before Shinnie's winner. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40692502 MY OPINION This result definitely makes things interesting as the match is still too close to call. I feel that this is a good result for the Dons but they must show that they are moving forward. This result must be taken into the season as they try to challenge Celtic for the SPL. EVERTON 1-0 RUZOMBEROK BRILLIANT BAINES A frustrating display looked set to end in a draw until Baines cracked in a deflected shot from 20 yards. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40724022 MY OPINION 1-0 means nothing in...

27-7-17 CELTIC ROSENBERG

Image
UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE QUALIFIER   CELTIC 0-0 ROSENBORG TIE STILL IN BALANCE Celtic and Rosenborg remain goalless after the first leg of their Champions League third qualifying round tie. Vegar Eggen Hedenstad's free-kick tested Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon and Rosenborg's Yann-Erik de Lanlay fired over from close range. James Forrest and Stuart Armstrong threatened for Celtic but they struggled to create openings. And Gordon was called upon to make another save late on, denying substitute Matthias Vilhjalmsson. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40692388 MY OPINION Celtic must score in the second leg but try to keep their defence solid at the same time as we do know that Rosenborg are fit after winning against Dundalk in extra time i9n the last round. Celtic need to find a way to play football the way that they want but I feel that there will not be much in it so maybe 1 goal could change everything. Celtic has to take inspiration from ...

26-7-17 darts match play

In the last 16 of the match play Scotsman Peter Wright did what was expected of him after beating Spaniard Christo Reyes 11-4 and he has to be considered a serious contender but Reyes was not a real threat and that could harm him moving forward. Wright is a threat for the whole competition. In the second match you had without a doubt the match of the tournament so far when Scotsman Gary Anderson lost 11-9 to Northern Irishman Daryl Gurney this match was never in one player’s hands and except at the early stages there was not too much between the pair. This match makes me think Gurney can go up the rankings. In the third tie an all English one we got the chance to see that Darren Webster had control and that he looks like an outside bet for the crown. Steve West was never in this tie as he lost by 11 legs to 7. Austrian Suljovic showed that the best darts are not always played in Britain with this simple enough win over Englishman Justin Pipe this was a match that the...
