31-7-17 Gaelic football
ALL IRELAND QUALIFIERS
DOWN 1-16 1-24 MONIHAN
MC MANANAS MAGNIFICENT MAGIC
Down led 0-7 to 0-4 before a Fintan Kelly
goal put Monaghan ahead but Connaire Harrison netted as the sides went in level
at 1-9 each at the break.
With subs Conor
McCarthy and Jack McCarron impressing, Monaghan hit five straight points to
lead 1-16 to 1-11.
As Monaghan
stayed in control, Conor McManus finished with 0-10.
MY
OPINION
This was a good win for Monahan especially
after losing to Down in the Ulster championship. This Monahan team are
improving as the year goes on but I feel that they do not have the time to
gives themselves the improvement needed going forward.
ARMAGH 1-17 0-17 KILDARE
MURININ GOAL CHANGES EVERYTHING
Andrew Murnin's goal just before half-time proved the
crucial score as his forward colleague Jamie Clarke produced a display of
running and invention.
Armagh led 1-8 to 0-8 at half-time after earlier leading
0-6 to 0-3.
Kildare fought back to lead by one after 56 minutes but
Armagh hit five of the last six scores to triumph.
MY
OPINION
This was a good match and Armagh are improving
for sure. It also shows me that when things are close Armagh know how to get
themselves out of that situation and to have one of the best players in Ireland
in Jamie Clarke playing for you in the next couple of years Armagh can make a real push for something.
QUARTER FINAL DRAW
Dublin v Monahan Tyrone v Armagh
KERRY 1-18 0-13 GALWAY
DEADLY DONAGHY
Cool, calm finish by Donaghy there off
the left foot. Great ball inside by Moran Ian Burke replies with a score for
Galway.
Quality point for Kerry as Enright plays
a long ball inside and Geaney slots over his third from play for Kerry.
Galway are not giving up as a great run
results in Murphy scoring his second. Brannigan opens his account moments
later.
Kerry are showing class again Crowley
races in from the end-line and O’Brien hand-passes over.
MY
OPINION
ROSOMMON 2-09 1-12 MAYO
CREGG EARLY GOAL ALLOWS
ROSCOMMON TO PLAY AGAIN
But Lee Keegan got one back to steady and Mayo and they led 1-08 to 2-03 at half-time.
The teams were level six times and Donie Smith’s late free meant they couldn’t be separated.
