OPINION
This was not expected as a
result and Rosenberg have shown in this math that the potential is there to
make a team ready for next season. As for Leipsig they must have expected the
win right up to the last minute when they conceded the goal and they might have
to work on defending.
CELTIC 1-2 RED BULL

ONGUENE ON IT
The breakthrough! And that is simplicity itself. Lainer’s
cross is excellent, Dabbur is between two defenders and his header flies into
the net off Gordon’s knee!
Gordon collects a long ball out of defence from Onguéné and
tries to immediately bowl it out again, but Gulbrandsen anticipates, sticks a
foot out, get contact on the ball and is left with a tap in!
Benkovic is brought down, and the referee
points to the spot! The penalty is well
saved by Walke, but Ntcham gets to the rebound first, and rolls it in the other
side!
MY OPINION
Celtic got lucky in reaching the
last 32 as the other result in the group helped them but there is a lot that
they need to improve on and fast maybe a few big friendlies might have to be
put in the schedule so they can give themselves a proper crack.
GROUP L
VIDI 2-2 CHELSEA
GREAT GIROUD
Willian wins what looks like a soft free-kick 25-yards out.
Willian curls the ball over the wall and into the corner.
It’s a good – not great – free kick. Kovacsik, Vidi’s keeper, was probably far
far over and couldn’t get there.
A promising move down the left wins the Hungarian side a
corner, from which Milanov flicks the ball on at the near post. Ampadu tries to
head it clear but only succeeds in heading straight into his own net. He holds
his dreadlocks in disbelief. A real shame for the Welshman.
Some neat play in midfield releases Milanov down the left.
The Bulgarian gets his head up, delivers a perfect cross to the back post and
Nego meets in on the run – he doesn’t have to break stride – volleying it first
time into the top corner, beating Caballero at the near post
Awful foul from Vinicius, who scythes Fabregas down at the
top of the D outside Vidi’s box and gets a yellow card. Barkley and Giroud both
over the ball …
Giroud scores direct from the free-kick. This one was much
better than Willian’s, right in the top corner, kissing the underside of the
bar on it’s way into the net. Kovacsik didn’t move in the Vidi goal, it sailed
over the wall and a Vidi defender trying to get back on the line could only
watch it go over his head.
MY OPINION
If Chelsea are to win the Europa
League they cannot get poor away results like this one. I hope that there is a
sense of improvement going into the second half and Chelsea show why they can
win this thing as I saw a bit of a battle last night which is not good for
them.

ARSENAL 1-0 QURABAG

OPINION
This has been a very easy group
for Arsenal and it does show that Emry has had no fear in taking over after
such a long serving manager. This has been a solid league campaign but you do now
ask how far they can go. As for Quarabag this has been a disappointment

OPINION
An easy win here for Sporting
made it comfortable for Sporting and they have shown that they are a threat but
their still ls a lot to learn forb this team moving forward. Poltava never
really stood a chance in a group like this ad can only learn from the
experience.

RAPID VIENA 1-0 RANGERS
LUBICIC LIVES
A poor clearance by
McGregor goes straight to Berisha out on the right. He charges into space down
the channel. The ball’s flicked inside for the substitute Ljubicic, who
one-twos with the superb Knasmullner. Ljubicic enters the box and gently slips
the ball past the out-rushing McGregor and into the bottom left. That’s a
lovely move, a glorious finish too.

OPIION
Rangers looked on course and
seemed destined to get a point from this match until they last couple of
minutes which will be the first big mark against Steven Gerard but he is a
young manager and he is still developing. Rapid Viena secured their spot with
this win and will be a tricky draw in the last 32.

OPINION
Villarereal have shown why they
are a serious threat in this competition and that they have the potential here
to win it. I think that Spartack Moscow are better than the result but the Spaniards
are ones to watch out for bin the draw.
