LEAGUE CUP
FOREST 3-2 STOKE
LOLLEY LOVERS LIMELIGHT
Forest took a fortunate lead when Adam Federici tried to
collect the ball but it hit Ben Osborn and went in the net.
Daryl Murphy doubled the lead with a powerful shot from 18
yards out and Joe Lolley added a third with a low strike.
But Benik Afobe pulled one back from the edge of the penalty
area and Saido Berahino bundled in a second from close range but it was not
enough for Stoke.
Forest played the last 13 minutes with 10 men after Diogo
Goncalves was shown a straight red card for a high challenge on Tom Edwards.
MY
OPINION
I think that Forest took their
gas of the pedal after leading the game by 3-0 but I do think this is a very
serious worry for Stoke. Forest could go far in this competition for certain
but Stoke must look at what went wrong.
WEST HAM 8-0
MACLESFIELD
SLIPPY SNODGRASS
Michail Antonio heading home in the 29th minute, before
Robert Snodgrass opened his account for West Ham three minutes later.
Seven minutes later it was three, with Lucas Perez also
getting of the mark this term with a fine volley, before Ryan Fredericks scored
his first goal in four and a half years six minutes after the interval.
Four more goals followed as Angelo Ogbonna (54) Snodgrass
(60) and a double (67, 82) from impressive debutant Grady Diangana completed
the rout to seal progression to the fourth round in the most emphatic manner.
MY
OPINION
This was a match that both sides
could learn little about how good their team is but the fact that West Ham are
getting used to their new home is a very good thing and I am sure that a result
like this will help them do that.
LIVERPOOL 1-2 CHELSEA
HAPPY HAZZARD
Liverpool, who had won all seven games this season, took the
lead through Daniel Sturridge's well-executed hooked finish, just minutes after
the England international missed a completely open net.
Chelsea levelled the contest through Emerson Palmieri's
close-range finish which needed intervention from the video assistant referee
(VAR) to check for offside before being awarded.
Hazzards finish into
the far corner with five minutes remaining sealed victory
MY
OPINION
This was a game of when the subs
were played as Liverpool played them too late to make any kind of a difference
but Liverpool can take from this the fact that they can look at Hazzxard and
can see a possible way to break him down.
ARSENAL 3-1 BRENFORD
WELLBECK MAKES
ARSENAL WELL
Wellbeck headed in Matteo Guendouzi's cross after five
minutes before poking home a brilliant move before half-time at Emirates Stadium.
Brentford's Alan Judge curled a superb 20-yard free-kick
into the top corner after the break.
Substitute Alexandre Lacazette scored a third for Arsenal in
stoppage time.
MY
OPINION
I think that the early Arsenal
goal changed this game in a big way and maybe if it had not been scored
Brentford should have been having more control of the game after that feel
Brentford lost it. The must have felt Arsenals quality after losing 2-1 after
equalising.
SPURS 2-2 WATTFORD
Spurs win 4-2 on pens
LAMELA KEEPS SPURS
GOING
Isaac Success had given Watford the lead, before goals from
Alli and Erik Lamela looked to have turned it around, only for Etienne
Capoue to force penalties late on.
MY
OPINION
This was a lucky win for Spurs
of that I have no doubt and I think that they could win this cup if they put a
sense of focus on it rather than putting it to the backburner as teams in
Europe 7usualy do. It might be the thing that keeps the team together
