25-9-17 rugby league weekend

Wakefield defeated Wigan to rule out any Chance of the Warriors reaching the Semi-finals. Leeds Hammered Huddersfield to secure a home semi-final spot with Hull FC defeating Castleford which will not bring them confidence going into their home semi-final with St Helens.

Leigh and Catalan will play in the Million pound game Warring thump Hull KR but they have still got enough to finish in third and be promoted, Widnes seal super League safety by beating the Catalan Dragons going up with Warrington who have a perfect record

ROOSTERS 16-29 COWBOYS

LOVELY LOWE

Morgan's clinic began with a sixth-minute 40/20 and his kicking game set the tone early, pinning the Roosters in their own half.
At one point, due to a combination of their own errors and excellence from North Queensland, the Roosters were not allowed to touch the ball for approximately eight minutes.
That period included a penalty goal for Ethan Lowe, a kick-off sailing dead on the full and a 24th-minute try to Te Maire Martin.
Even so, the hosts only trailed by a penalty goal at the break after Feldt failed to play at a cross-field kick, allowing Latrell Mitchell to score just before half-time.
The momentum continued to move the way of the tricolours after the break, with Coen Hess dropping the first hit-up of the half and Roosters skipper Boyd Cordner crossed soon after.
Morgan responded with a brilliant pass to send Kane Linnett over before Linnett's centre partner, Justin O'Neill, literally threw the ball to the Roosters and Blake Ferguson crossed straight away.
But O'Neill got one back on Ferguson with a bone-rattling hit that shook the ball loose within reach of the Roosters' line.
A few tackles later, Morgan found out the Roosters' defence with a wide ball to Linnett, who handed over to Feldt for another freakish finish in the corner.
Lowe's sideline conversion pushed the lead to 20-16 and the Cowboys were handed more perfect field position when Mitchell booted another kick-off dead on the full.
One tackle later, the Roosters conceded another penalty and Lowe put a converted try between the teams.
Not content with his superb night, Morgan then potted a field goal in the dying minutes before hard-working prop Scott Bolton crossed with the game already wrapped up.

MY OPINION

It is definitely a shock when a team with such a poor league record goes into a final of a playoff system and it does make you as the question does the system work. I am not that sure how they will do in the final next week.

AFL PRELIM FINALS

MELBOURNE STORM 30-0 BRISBANE BRONCOES

CARR CHANGES EVERYTHING

With the Broncos' attack also spluttering, the Storm only needed one spark to get their noses in front and they found it in the shadows of half-time, when teenage centre Curtis Scott offloaded superbly to find Addo-Carr on his outside.
The rapid winger then stepped inside a clearly hobbled Darius Boyd and flew 50 metres for an 8-0 lead at the break.
Neither team would have been happy with their opening 40 minutes, but Craig Bellamy would have been ready to destroy the coaches' box when Nelson Asofa-Solomona dropped the ball in the first hit-up of the second half.
Unfortunately, Brisbane's unthreatening attack failed to trouble Melbourne's defence, which is the one part of its game that remained elite all night.
With 20 minutes to go, the Storm returned to a play that had seen some success earlier in the night, with back-rower Felise Kaufusi offloading to Slater, who found the corner.
Asofa-Solomona found some retribution for his earlier error when he crashed over on 71 minutes, before Slater found another four-pointer thanks to a Cronk line break.
MY OPINION

This was a poor first half that in honesty could have went either way but you knew that with how long it was going without one the first score would be vital. And it changed everything in such a major way. I really wish that the Boncoes could have scored before 55 as then we would have a match
