BRILLIANT BROGAN
Kildare were no match for the pace, power and finishing
ability of Dublin in that second-half and O'Callaghan shone brightest among their
galaxy of star finishers.
The Cuala man, an All-Ireland U-21 and club hurling
medallist earlier this year, took over the free-taking duties after goalscorer
Dean Rock's 24th-minute black card but delivered in general play too, kicking
six from play.
Ciaran Kilkenny had another strong game for Dublin too while
James McCarthy scored their other goal and Bernard Brogan sniped five points
after replacing Rock.
It's just the second time in 15 Leinster championship games
under Jim Gavin that Dublin haven't won by at least 10 points so Kildare can
take some positives from the defeat.
MY
OPINION
Dublin look like a team to beat
this year as Leinster looked easy for them again this year. Going into the
quarters without a real test cannot help them moving forward but this is
without a doubt the strongest team in Ireland as for Kildare I think they could
put up a fight to anyone.
ULSTER FOOTBALL
FINAL
TYRONE 2-17 0-15 DOWN
O NEILL DEVIATING DOUBLE
Tyrone led 0-7 to 0-5 at half-time but pulled away after the
break, picking off regular points and scoring two goals through substitute
Ronan O'Neill.
The Red Hands' 2-17 to 0-15 success secured a 15th Ulster
crown for the county and a sixth Anglo-Celt Cup triumph for their manager
Mickey Harte.
Defender Cathal McCarron was sent-off late on for his part
in a fracas.
MY
I don’t
really know what to think of a result like this as all this tells me is that
Tyrone can beat down on a bad day but if they are to play Dublin in the semi-final
what chances do they have. Down have shown that they are a lot better than this
and I still feel that they are due a shock result.

Armagh's Jamie Clarke and James
Morgan received first-half black cards but were level at 0-7 to 1-4 at the
break.
Paul Sharry netted, while
Westmeath had two players black-carded late on.
An injury-time Ethan Rafferty
goal and two late points from Oisin O'Neill saw the Orchard County progress
despite the dismissal of substitute Gregory McCabe.
MY
OPINION
Armagh
have definitely gone further than even they dared to dream after beating a good
Westmeath team who you would think would win this tie. The next level though
for them will definitely be a lot tougher for them. As for Westmeath I think
they have to sit down and watch the game again and try to learn what went
wrong.
MONIHAN 3-23 1-10
WEXFORD
DEADLY DUFFY
Fintan Kelly and Karl O'Connell
goals helped the Farney County to a 2-10 to 0-5 half-time lead, with Ben
Brosnan finding the net soon after the break.
Kieran Duffy grabbed Monaghan's
third goal.
Kelly and Ciaran Lyng were
dismissed for two yellow card offences, while Adrian Flynn was flashed a black
card four minutes later, with Wexford having used their six substitutes.
Substitute John Leacy was shown a
straight red card moments later.
MY
OPINION
This
is a good Monahan side who deserve a quarter final this year and I think that
they can compete with anyone but we all know that some teams do have a habit of
crumbling at Croke Park. I think that if Monahan were to go beyond Down and
play Dublin they could give them a
game.
