Russia broke the deadlock in the 25th minute through
Aleksandr Samedov but Nestor Araujo headed Mexico level five minutes later.
Juan Carlos Osorio's side went 2-1 up seven minutes after
the break thanks to Hirving Lozano's third international goal, before Russia
had Yuri Zhirkov sent off for picking up a second booking in the 68th minute.

OPINION
For the hosts this must be seen as
a disappointment as this has been there first test of how well they have been
doing since the euros. I feel that Mexico are improving and could be a force in
the World Cup next year.
NZ 0-4 PORTUGAL
RONALDO ENSURES THAT PORTUGAL ARE ON TOP
Ronaldo was the one to break the deadlock, dispatching an
emphatic penalty beyond Stefan Marinovic to score.
The talented Bernardo Silva doubled the European champions'
tally before the break with a simple finish after a lovely Portugal move on the
left flank.
Portugal still looked determined to make sure of their
position as group winners by adding more goals and new AC Milan signing Andre
Silva effectively clinched it in the 80th minute with a fine solo effort.
And Nani, Ronaldo's replacement from the bench, added a
fourth for good measure.
MY
OPINION
Portugal has shown in this compaction
that they can do well and that they are getting better. II do think though that
they lean sometime too much on Ronaldo which could be a serious problem. I
think that New Zealand need friendlies of high quality to improve them very
soon or the World Cup dream may be done.

GERMANY 3-1 CAMEROON
DEMIRBAY MAKES DEBUT
WITH GOAL
Hoffenheim midfielder Demirbay marked his full debut by
breaking the deadlock early in the second half at the Fisht Olympic Stadium in
Sochi and RB Leipzig striker Werner's double sandwiched Vincent Aboubakar's
header for Cameroon.

OPINION
Germany look on fire at the
moment and there does not look like a team in this competition that can beat
them and this competition could help make things easy for the World Cup qualifier.
Cameroon should be disappointed in this. Learning about what they can do will
help Cameroon moving forward

RODREREGEZ RUSHES
CHILE INTO SEMIS
James Troisi put
Australia ahead on 42 minutes in Moscow, but Chile replied through half-time
substitute Rodriguez on 67 minutes to advance as Group B runners-up behind
Germany.

OPINION
To me it was a bit of a surprise
that Chile was able to get out of their group as you expect them not to get
into this situation. Anyway this has to be seen as a success for the nation and
they should try to build on it going forward. I think they could be a force in
the world cup.
