PREMIERSHIP
MAN U 3-0 WATTFORD
GREENWOOD GIVES
Penalty
to Manchester United ... Fernandes rushed into the box, out came Ben
Foster and, despite the Watford goalkeeper shaking his head in disbelief, there
is only one outcome for the referee Martin Atkinson. Watford had looked so
content.Nicely done. Bruno Fernandes watches Ben Foster dive to his right, so
promptly rolls the ball to the Watford goalkeeper’s left.
A brisk move, and a superb, nerveless finish. Martial
scoops the ball over Ben Foster after initially being repelled by
the Watford goalkeeper. The move itself was exquisite, as United clicked
into gear with some wonderful one-touch football. Martial’s first effort was
saved but he kept his cool and cheekily dinked the ball over Foster to double
United’s advantage.
A sumptuous finish, in off the crossbar. Greenwood carries the ball out from his own half after Hughes loses possession and drives forward. He skips past one challenge before laying the ball off to his right, playing a lovely one-two with Bruno Fernandes – who has had a very good game in midfield – and Greenwood promptly lashes the ball into the far corner. United are moving up to fifth place in style, even if the scoreline is a little flattering.
MY
OPINION
United just were able to control
this match and get the goals at the right time. I think that whether City are
kicked out will depend on whether United have any chance of playing Champions
League through the league
WOLVES 3-0 NORRICH
JOTA JUST JUMPS
Diogo Jota, who helped himself to a hat-trick on Thursday,
is at it again. After a VAR check, Wolves are able to celebrate the opener at
Molineux. Matt Doherty took hold of the ball on the edge of the area and picked
out the Portuguese, who coolly did the rest, firing under the legs of Tim Krul.
Is there another hat-trick on the cards for Jota? Dendoncker
keeps a corner alive and Romain Saïss smacks the ball across goal, handing Jota
the ball on a plate. Jota taps in from close range.
Wolves are home and hosed. Raúl Jiménez gets in on the act
after Jota’s shot cannoned off the inside of a post and he taps in Wolves’
third. Dendoncker kickstarts the move, seizing possession on halfway before
slipping in Jota, who goes mightily close. Jiménez converts the rebound.
MY
OPINION
This was a surprisingly easy win
for Wolves over Norwich and how they are one of the team’s looking for Europe
while Norwich are looking to avoid the drop at the end of the season. There
does not seem to be a way forward for Norwich
ARSENAL 3-2 EVERTON
ABAYANG APOINTED
LEADER
Everton win a free-kick 30 yards out and Arsenal’s
marking is extremely arsenal, so when Sigurdsson curls it in, there are 62
attackers behind the defensive line. The ball then hits Luiz on the shoulder
because of course it does, but what about what happens next! Calvert-Lewin
vaults into an overhead kick, somehow sending the ball to Leno’s right, with
his right foot, from bang in front of goal.
Saka is out by the touchline, close to the by-line, and has
a defender in close proximity. So he simply bends a luscious cross into the
near post which Nketiah reads perfectly, leaping to punch a side-footer past
Pickford.
David Luiz is allowed to stroll out from the back and you
can’t play a high line with no pressure on the ball. He slides a perfect pass
into the path of Aubameyang, who leaves Sidibe standing coming from out to in,
and obviously he opens his body and passes his usual finish into the bottom
corner.
Everton win a corner that’s not properly cleared, and
when the ball’s tossed back in, Mina wins the second ball and Leno spreads
himself when he needs to come and get the ball, as though he’d rather make a
save than get hit. Except there’s no save to be made until Richarlison takes an
unchallenged poke which is enough to beat the aforementioned spread.
That’s what it
took for Arsenal to shove Carlo Ancelotti’s half-time team-talk up
his nostril. Bellerin moved the ball out to Pepe, who lifted a cross towards
Aubameyang, and with Sidibe dreaming of pink flying hippos and fluffy toilet
seats, the master finisher despatched a header into the corner.
MY
OPINION
Arsenal were able to show in
this that they do have the quality to make a difference in big matches. This is
something that they did not have since Wrenger was their manager and they had
players that could make the difference
CHELSEA 2-1 SPURS
ALONSO ABU
orginho curls a glorious pass down the inside right channel
for Giroud. A poor first touch takes him a bit wider than he’d like, but he
powers a shot towards the bottom right anyway. Lloris parries. Barkley gets
onto the rebound and slams a shot against the right-hand post. Giroud latches
onto that rebound and drives home, beating Lloris, the ball
flying into the bottom right
The ball’s worked across the face of the Spurs box, right to
left. Giroud to Mount to Barkley to Alonso, who strides in from the left and
pearls a first-time daisycutter across Lloris and into the bottom right.
So having said that, Lamela dribbles into the Spurs box down
the left. He tries to roll a cross inside for Alli. The ball clips off
Rudiger’s heel, and into the bottom left, past a wrong-footed Caballero.
MY
OPINION
Anyone who thought Spurs stood a
chance in this match after Chelsea’s second isn’t very bright as they are
showing why they are able to sit in 4th position for so long now
they have a chance of finishing in third position in the league and qualify for
the ECL automatically
BURNLEY 3-0 BOURNMOUTH
VELOCIOUS VYDRA
The Clarets did take the lead in the 53rd minute when Vydra
darted into the box after beating the offside trap, evaded Simon Francis’
challenge and finished coolly over an onrushing Ramsdale.
Drama ensued before the hour when Bournemouth
counter-attacked and scored through Harry Wilson, but VAR brought play back to
award Burnley a penalty after Daniels’ handball moments before the Cherries
broke forward. Rodriguez stepped up to slot away an expertly-taken spot-kick to
double Burnley’s advantage.
McNeil fired in a sublime effort which rebounded off the
post with Ramsdale beaten, but the Burnley man made no mistake with a brilliant
curling 87th minute strike for the third.
MY
OPINION
Burnley had to be happy with the
win that they got here as the push themselves into the top half of the table
and they were very clinical in the way they were able to win this game. I think
that they can show this more often and be in
the position they are as for Bournemouth they should worry as relegation
is a real threat.
PALICE 1-0 NEWCASTLE
VAN ANNOHT
VINDICATED
In tricky conditions, the Eagles constantly dominated via
set pieces and deservedly took the lead through former Sunderland left-back van
Aanholt via a sweetly struck 25-yard free-kick on the stroke of half-time.
MY OPINION
Newcastle and Plaice are in a
similar position comfortable enough to be not over stressed about relegation
but not so much that the chance of going down is there. I don’t believe it can
happen but Bruce may have to put his focus on the league at certain times
SHEF UTD 1-1 BRIGHTON
MIGHTY MAUPAY
Brighton trailed early on to Enda Stevens' powerful rising
effort from a half-cleared corner after 26 minutes - his first goal on home
soil since the Blades' promotion.
But their lead lasted only three minutes and nine seconds,
before head home Adam Webster's flick-on from Aaron Mooy's long free-kick.
MY
OPINION
This has been 2 dropped points
for United as they chase for Europe and being able to have the incredible
season that they are having but this should be seen as a stepping stone as to
get into their position is incredible. As for Brighton they have to see this as
a huge positive and they can move forward.
SOUTHAMPTON 2-0 VILLA
LOVELY LONG
It took only eight minutes for Southampton to breach a
discernibly frail defence, with the lively Moussa Djenepo beating Ezri Konsa to
the byline before cleverly hooking a cross towards the front post with the
outside of his right foot. Long was lurking and managed to steady himself to
instinctively divert the ball beyond Reina with the top of his thigh.
Villa’s tepidness left Smith seething on the touchline but
his players had nowhere to hide. They eventually conceded again when the
substitute Che Adams superbly released Armstrong, who had earlier gone close
after seizing on a mix-up between Reina and the fit-again Tyrone Mings, after
the Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy punched a Villa corner clear.
Armstrong struck to put Villa out of their misery, firing home from a tight
angle.

MY
OPINION
Neither of these teams are in a
good position in the table and the Saints are in the better position because of
the win that they have gained this weekend. Villa do rely on one man but can he
save them I am not sure.
LEICESTER 0-1 MAN CITY
JESUS JIVES RACE BIT
OF BUZZ
Manchester City break upfield. Mahrez flicks delicately
down the inside-right channel, releasing Jesus into the box. Jesus draws
Schmeichel and fizzes a low shot into the bottom right.
MY
OPINION
The only man City could loose
this match was if they played under power and that was what happens when they
up their level in this match. They do not seem to be doing much of that this
season but both sides should be happy enough with their season.
LIVERPOOL 3-2 WEST HAM
MANE MIRICLE
the ball bobbles off
Aaron Creswell into a wide area. Alexander-Arnold wraps his foot around the
ball the way only he knows how, a wonderfully-whipped cross, and Wijnaldum
ghosts in, glancing his header towards the far post. Fabianski should get
there, but can only palm the ball into the inside of the side netting! That’s a
shocking piece of goalkeeping!
Set pieces were always going to be West Ham’s best chance of
a result tonight, and West Ham have indeed scored from a corner! Snodgrass’s
cross was brilliantly fired to the near post and Diop got up highest to head
the ball low inside Alisson’s near post. There was no player guarding the post,
and although Alisson got a hand to it, it crept over the line.
Snodgrass to build the play up methodically, before Rice
whips in an early cross that leaves Liverpool’s centre backs on their heels.
Fornals makes a late run into the box and sweeps the ball into the corner with
a first-time finish. Right in the corner, that was.
Robertson showed excellent pace to get around Snodgrass to
the byline, cutting the ball back to Salah on the penalty spot. The Egyptian
hit his shot first time, low and straight at Fabianski, but the Pole let the
ball trickle through his legs, just over the line
It was perhaps a lucky goal for Liverpool, with
Alexander-Arnold’s pass deflected wonderfully into Salah’s path, but the
Egyptian showed good pace to beat Fabianski to the bouncing ball, and hooked
the ball back from the byline for Mané to tuck the ball into an open net from
two yards out.
MY
OPINION
Liverpool get another win and
show that they can do the damage at Anfield but this says to me that things are
still not right for them yet after the mid-season break that Klopp begged for .
It does feel a little that they have lost their momentum but this is the first
time I have felt like they can come back in the attempts that they have had.
But like Nots Forest in the 90s there is no team too good to go down at any
particular time.
