EUROPA LEAGUE LAST
32 FIRST LEG
CLUB BRUGES 1-1 MAN U
MARTIAL MOVEMENT
Brugge are moving the ball so quickly in the final third
and, minutes after their first goal, they are already after a second. Quite a
poor miss from Rits at the end of another great move from the home team.
Brugge defender Mechele received a throw in from a
completely neutral position but he clearly didn’t realise how close Martial
was. As he let the ball run past him, Martial sprinted forward and nicked the
ball, dribbling free and then finishing with plenty of composure.
MY OPINION
This was a poor game for United
as this would have been a tie they would have expected to breeze past but the
fact that Buuges can score a goal so early in this match is the difference between
United going through or not it was only one match though
COPENHAGEN 1-1 CELTIC
NDOYE NEVER OVER
It's that man Edouard again!
Christie breaks free down the right and scarpers forward as
Celtic throw bodies forward in support. He cuts it back to McGregor on the edge
of the box, who tees up Edouard. The French striker delicately chips the ball
over the onrushing keeper Johnsson and the ball nestles into the far corner.
Ntcham is robbed of the ball and Falk spots the run of
N'Doye, slipping the striker in on goal with a lovely weighted pass. He hits it
first-time past a static Forster, and it clips the woodwork as it crosses the
line.
MY
OPINION
This was a match that got away
from Celtic and the fact that they could have scored a penalty as well is a
huge thing also. Celtic will have a week now to get their ducks in a row for
the second leg which could define which way this match will game will goal
first goal matters.
OLYMPICICOS 0-1 ARSENAL
LACAZETTE LUCIOUS
Shkodran Mustafi swept the ball out to the left, Aubmeyang
slipped it back to Saka and his curled cross combined with Lacazette’s
excellent movement created a tap in for Arsenal’s No.9.
MY
OPINION
Arsenal would not have expected
this type of result due to their lack of form in the league but in Europe they
do seem to be doing damage and it should be their only way into Europe next
season. Olympics are sitting on top of the Greek league so failure here should
matter to them
RANGERS 3-2 SPORTING
BRAVA
HAGI THE HERO
Fransergio beat Allan McGregor with an unstoppable rising
drive from 25 yards.
Their fears were realised 14 minutes after the restart when
Abel Ruiz cut across three defenders before leaving McGregor static with a
powerful low shot into the bottom corner.
Hagi beat Matheus with a fierce drive in off the post.
But then substitute Joe Aribo levelled with 15 minutes to go after running
through and slotting under the goalkeeper.
Then Hagi took aim from a 25-yard free-kick and found the
corner courtesy of a big deflection off Paulinho.
MY
OPINION
This tie could go either way
because of the away goals but if Gerard can tap into this skill of being two
goals down and winning a tie then he can do so much in his season maybe picking
up a trophy which would be considered awesome in the situation
WOLVES 4-0 ESPANOL
JOTA JIRATED
A short corner is played to Neves who whips the ball into
the middle of the area. Diogo Jota finds the space to place the ball into the
right-hand corner.
Adama Traore bursts past his defender down the right hand
side. His cross is seemingly headed away from danger, but little did Espanyol
know it was falling for Ruben Neves. The midfielder takes it on his chest and
strikes the volley deep into the right corner, leaving the keeper with
absolutely no chance.
Matt Doherty comes inside from his right back position and
slips through Jota. The winger takes his touch round the outside of his man,
allowing the Portuguese international to fire his shot past the helpless Prieto
at his near post.
That's it, back to back hat-tricks for Diogo Jota in
Europe. The wide man comes in from the left, and finds his way to the edge of
the box. Surrounded by Espanyol defenders he strikes the ball into the bottom
left corner
MY
OPINION
It is a surprise how much Wolves
won by in this tie as they would be seen as a small team in England while the
Spaniards would be seen as a lot bigger a club and could with the right backing
play Champions league for Wolves it would take a few years
