FA PREMIERE LEAGUE
WOLVES 0-0 LEICESTER
ESPERINTO SANTO
EXITES AS WOLVES DESERVE WIN
Just before half-time, Willy Boly looked to have opened the
scoring for the hosts after a short corner routine but his close-range header
was ruled out with Pedro Neto judged to be offside in build-up.
Leicester midfielder Hamza Choudhury was sent off 14 minutes
from the end of normal time after collecting two bookings in the second half.
MY
OPINION
Leicester have shown ion matches
like this why they are where they are in the league table and I think they are
going to find it difficult to move up them few new levels need to compete in
Europe whether Europa and Champions league. Wolves will compete for fifth with
all that they have got this season
SOUTHAMPTON 1-2 BURNLEY
VYDRA VENUM
It won’t be easy for Saints, that is. Wood powers his way
down the left and wins the first corner of the game. Westwood takes, and curls
it towards the near post. Ings is guarding, but decides the ball is hitting the
side netting. It’s not, though. Ings opts to let the ball through. In it curls,
direct from the corner. Ings puts his head in his hands, as well he might. What
a fiasco, and he can’t blame the wind. A huge misjudgement.
Danny Ings makes up for his role in Burnley’s goal! And how.
He snatches onto a loose ball, on the edge of the Burnley D. He shifts it
right, taking three Burnley defenders out of the game, and curls a
stunning shot into the bottom corner. That’s a delightful finish, the shot set
outside the post and curled back in, leaving Pope with no chance.
What a goal this is!
With the rain swirling like mad, Hendrick launches long from the right, finding
Vydra on the edge of the Saints box, with his back to goal. He takes two
touches to nudge the ball to the left, turns and larrups a stunner into the top
left past a sprawling McCarthy. That’s some finish, and out of nothing.
MY
OPINION
This was a match of 2 different
teams competing for mid table and a good win here was a big thing for Burnley
but no team were pushing up for Europe or a threat of relegation so I don’t
think the saints will look at this with a sense of threat
NORWICH 0-1 LIVERPOOL
MAGNIFICANT MANE
Henderson creams a long ball down the inside-left channel.
Mane brings it down, spins, and slams a wonderful shot into the bottom left.
There’s a quick VAR check, as Mane had placed a hand on Zimmerman’s back as he
turned, but it’s never going to be disallowed.
MY
OPINION
A tie here between top and
bottom that might seal Norwich’s fate and keep Liverpool’s records on track 43
unbeaten and 17 unbeaten equalling their own record and one behind City’s
record. This does look to be an incredible team and I think they can get the
wins needed to break the record. This team looks to be one of the greats but
what will be their target after winning the title.
VILLA 2-3 SPURS
SON SIMPLIFIES
Alderweireld gets his bearings all wrong, making a mess of
an El Ghazi cross from the right and inadvertently prods the ball beyond Hugo
Lloris. El Ghazi easily eluded his marker, Ben Davies, raced towards the byline
before whipping in a lovely curling cross from the right. The bouncing ball
flummoxed Alderweireld, who was busy keeping Samatta at bay. But in the end the
Spurs defender does the Villa’s striker’s work for him.
Redemption for the Spurs defender – and what a sweet strike.
Alderweireld nonchalantly swivels in the box after picking up the scraps of a
corner and coolly thrashes the ball into the roof of the Villa net. The ball
pinballs around in the box and Alderweireld slams home. Spurs have been dire
defensively but they have looked a threat at the other end. Matt Targett did
brilliantly to intercept a slick move, nicking the ball away from Aurier but
Spurs strike from the subsequent corner.
Pepe Reina saves the initial penalty low down to his right
but Son pokes in the rebound from close range. Reina is livid at the lack of
Villa helping hands, with Son and Alli charging into the box to feed on any
rebounds. In the end Son is the beneficiary, nudging home after his spot-kick
was saved.
Grealish’s corner spins into the six-yard box and Engels
rises above Alderweireld to nod in. That was oh so easy. Villa Park inevitably
erupts.
Engels fails to trap a simple ball, Son runs through on goal
and effortlessly bends the ball beyond Pepe Reina. Mourinho instantly calls for
Jan Vertonghen. Mission shut up shop.
MY
OPINION
This was an amazingly stupid
result to give away for Villa in their push to avoid the relegation zone this
season this could be a huge point for Villa but to lose it due to bad defending
is a bad thing. For Spurs they are in a place in Europe seems to be a sure
thing.
ARSENAL 4-0 NEWCASTLE
PRESISSION PEPE
Ozil and Ceballos worked the ball across the field to Pepe
on the right. He came back inside and lofted a high, hanging cross to the far
post, where Aubameyang got between two defenders and planted a superb header
across Dubravka. There was no pace at all on the cross, so he had to
concentrate on both power and placement. He managed both with aplomb.
The goal was made
beautifully by the young left-back Saka. He nutmegged Lazaro
on the left wing, moved into the area and crossed low towards Mustafi and Pepe,
who were both in space near the penalty spot. Pepe got there first to slide a
first-time shot past Dubravka.
Mesut Ozil seals a comfortable win for Arsenal,
cushioning a close-range volley through Dubravka from a speculative cross by
Lacazette. It was a goalkeeping error.
Lacazette gets his first goal in 10 games, miskicking Pepe’s
pass into the top corner, and the Arsenal players cavort by the
corner flag.
MY
OPINION
If Arsenal can play like this
all season they will be playing European football next season but they have
not. Both teams would still have the belief that they can qualify for Europe
next season and Newcastle will probably now be looking towards the cup
CHELSEA 0-2 MAN UNITED
MARTIAL AND MAGUIRE
MAKE MANCHESTER
Wan-Bissaka
made the goal, twisting Willian one way and then the other before crossing to
the near post. Martial got above Christensen, who had just come back on the
field, and flicked an accomplished header into the far corner.
Made by Bruno Fernandes,
who bulleted a corner from the left towards the penalty spot. Maguire arrived
late, got in front of Rudiger and planted an emphatic downward header into the
net. He shouldn’t be on the field, but that was a brilliant header.
MY
OPINION
This game was one where the shoreline
flattered United massively and it could have been a draw before VAR became the
thing that makes goals. Both these teams will definitely be in the push for the
top 4 but we still don’t know what that means yet
