THU
CHELSEA 2-2 ARSENAL
JOGINHO JUMPS
Leno does well to stand up and force Jorginho, whose
penalty-taking technique seems to rely on convincing goalkeepers to fall over
using his Jedi mind-powers, to find a corner, which is precisely what he does!
Martinelli picks it up outside his penalty area and heads
for the halfway line. Kante is the last man back and is about to cut out the
ball when he slips, allowing Martinelli to just keep on running, all the way
into the penalty area, and slide past Kepa!
Abraham wins a corner, and then looks to injure an ankle on
an advertising hoarding. As he limps back into the penalty area the corner is
played short, Hudson-Odoi sends the ball in low and it’s tapped in by
Azpilicueta!
Abraham was offside, but the officials decided he wasn’t
interfering with play (although he absolutely got in the way of Mustafi when
the defender could otherwise pretty easily have cleared the cross).
MY OPINION
This was a game defined by that
bit of luck that changes everything in a game and I think that Chelsea were
harshly treated in it I think that VAR has changed the game in a massive way
but I am not sure whether or not it for the better.
LEICESTER 4-1 WEST HAM
PERFECT PRERZ
Pereira bursts into the penalty area and hits a cross-shot
that would have gone wide had Barnes not thundered in to smash it home from
half a yard. Happily the six-yard line made it abundantly clear with a simple
freeze-frame that Barnes was behind the ball when Pereira hit it, so all’s good
Barnes gets down the left, cuts inside and picks out a
lovely pass to Ricardo Pereira, bursting into the right-hand corner of the
penalty area, who thumps a shot back across goal and in!
The VAR is giving this a good, long look. Ndidi does make
contact with Haller’s knee, but the player’s fall looks fabricated. The VAR
decides that there was a foul, though, and confirms the penalty.
Schmeichel jumps out of the way, and Noble sends the ball
down the middle!
Ogbonna tries to stop Iheanacho inside the area, and gets
man before ball. The referee would have pointed to the spot anyway, obviously,
but I think he’s got this right. Randolph
goes low to his left, Ayoze Perez goes high the other way, and this match is
surely won!
The ball comes in from the right, comes off Perez to
Iheanacho, comes back off Iheanacho to Perez, and his snap-shot goes in off the
far post!
MY
OPINION
Leicester are showing the class
that they are known to have had over the last few years and are they ready for
the step up next season in Europe. I am nearly sure. As for West Ham Liverpool
are next and they should be a concern ibn the relegation zone and need to get
the form and what the fans want so much
SPURS 2-1 NORWICH
SON SEALS IT
The play opens up for Spurs down the right and Aurier beat
Byram before appealing in vain for handball as his initial cross is blocked.
Norwich initially clear their lines, but Cantwell loses out
and Aurier's excellent second delivery is then turned in from close range by
Alli.
As ever, VAR are checking that decision. I don't think
Spurs have much hope of it being overturned, however.Really clumsy from
Sessegnon, who has had a poor game.
Lloris guesses right and gets a hand to Pukki's low
effort, but it still ends up squeezing into the back of the net.
It's a good ball from the impressive Lo Celso to find Dele,
whose reverse pass from the byline loops up off the defender and high into the
air before being helped in by Son at the back post.
MY
OPINION
For Spurs getting into the Europa
League is where they are at and what their priorities should be and I hope that
they settle. This does seem to be a season based on the facts of man City
Liverpool and Leicester. Norwich are in a huge hole and might already be down
MAN U 0-2 BURNLEY
WOOD WHALES
A free-kick from the centre-circle finds Ben Mee, who flicks
it on. The ball sits up nicely for Chris Wood, who swivels and smashes the ball
past De Gea.
It’s a
remarkable goal from Jay Rodriguez, who rifles the ball into the top corner
from a ridiculous angle.
MY
OPINION
United seem to be in a bit of
trouble at the moment and the issue has to be looked at whether it is at the
top or management this does seem to be getting to the players in what they do but
finishing 5th should not be considered a failure. Burnley are not
going to go down but can push on to mid table
