13-5-19 premiere league final day
PREMIERSHIP FINAL
DAY
BRIGHTON 1-4 MAN CITY
MAGICAL MARHEZ
Huge, huge moment here as Murray rises to head a corner into
the back of the net. Ederson came but got nowhere near it. Now then, City just
have to find a response here.
That did not last long then! City level the scores in the
28th minute as Aguero collects a flick from David Silva before firing a low
strike through the legs of Ryan!
City take the lead at the Amex and it is a towering header
from Laporte, who rises above everyone to meet a cross from Mahrez. Huge, huge
moment in the title race!
That might be that! Wonderful strike from Mahrez as the
attacker works some space outside the Brighton box before finding the top
corner with an explosive effort!
City have a free kick in a dangerous area as Bissouma fouls
Sterling...
City with a fourth as Gundogan finds the back of the net
with a wonderful free kick!
MY
OPINION
This was a match that looked to
be all defined by how long it took City by their equaliser and how quick it was
and that was their defining moment but when they got their second there was no
way Burnley had a chance
BURNLEY 1-3 ARSNAL
ABAMYANG AWSOME
Mesut Ozil, restored to the Arsenal line-up as captain,
dissected the Burnley defence with a pass which Sead Kolasinac kept in play,
allowing Aubameyang to drift into through the static defence to poke home into
the far corner.
Barnes and Sokratis Papastathopoulos were involved to two
heated altercations before the interval, but the Gunners kept their heads to go
into the break ahead for the first time in the league this season.
One became two three minutes into the second half as
Kolasinac and Lacazette combined at pace on the counter, before Aubameyang
clinically doubled his tally with a thunderous near-post drive.
Burnley were competitive throughout without testing the
Arsenal defence, but the visitors were gifted a route back into the game when
the Arsenal defence failed to clear a cross into the box, and Barnes lashed
home from six yards.
MY
OPINION
A good win for the Gunners but
now everything rides on whether they can win the Europa League at the end of
the hope but this was in more hope than in expectation. This will be a learning
season for the new manager
PALICE 5-3 BOURNMOUTH
BASTHUYIBANGS THEM
IN
Regardless, they were
the stronger team as they played with intensity, and threatened to win by a
wider margin after Batshuayi's 24th-minute strike gave them the lead.
The superb Wilfried Zaha's cross from the right wing
deflected high into the air off Adam Smith, with Batshuayi taking advantage of
Bournemouth's static defence to swivel in the six-yard box and volley in with
conviction.
His second followed eight minutes later, when Zaha's
through-ball released Aaron Wan-Bissaka into space on the right, from where he
sent a low ball across the face of goal that Batshuayi effortlessly sent first
time beyond teenage goalkeeper Mark Travers.
Zaha then carried possession into the visitors' penalty area
from where he had to stretch to shoot, leaving Travers with a simple save that
rebounded off Jack Simpson and rolled in.
Jefferson Lerma unexpectedly struck for Bournemouth on the
stroke of half-time, when Nathaniel Clyne found him in midfield, allowing him
to run into space and fire home into the top-left corner.
The Cherries were given hope of a comeback 12 minutes into
the second half when a cut-back from the left from Smith found Jordon Ibe on
the edge of the area, with his low, goal-bound shot deflecting off Ward and
beyond the unfortunate Vicente Guaita's reach.
Zaha was again crucial in the goal that effectively ensured
a home victory. After receiving possession from Patrick van Aanhont, he
took out three defenders by turning and playing the return pass that left the
Dutchman to routinely finish from close range.
Joshua King's 73rd-minute, back-post strike, after Chis
Mepham had flicked on Ryan Fraser's corner, again narrowed the visitors'
deficit, before Andros Townsend added Palace's fifth seven minutes
later.
Zaha, again, ran from inside his own half, beat two
defenders, reached the penalty area and fed Townsend to his right, who struck
first time into the far, left corner.
MY
OPINION
With little on the line there
was so much freedom in the game both teams had licence to attack and they did
with brilliant awe and I think that this was one of the games of the season and
should be top of any of the MOTD schedules
FULLHAM 0-4 NEWCASTLE
SLIGHT SHELVY
The Geordies were two goals up in a two-minute spell early
in the match. Midfielder Jonjo Shelvey ended his year-long run without a goal
with a thunderous half-volley from just inside the area before Ayoze Perez
grabbed his 13th of the season when he tucked home after goalkeeper Sergio Rico
failed to adequately deal with Christian Atsu's shot.
Defender Fabian Schar nodded in the Magpies' third just
after the hour mark before Salomon Rondon capped off his own brilliant display
with an angled strike which produced the loudest cheer of the afternoon
MY
OPINION
This must be seen as a brilliant
thing for Rafa as he got another massive win in the Premiership that no one saw
coming and this has to be seen as someone deserving of a new contract. This
shows the weakness tat Fullham have and that they might find things hard in the
Championship
LIVERPOOL 2-0 WOLVES
MANE MOANS
Henderson plays a nice reverse pass down the line to
Alexander-Arnold, who crosses low to the edge of the six yard box where Mane
finds himself in space, and has time to slam a relatively simple finish in.
Alexander-Arnold absolutely Alexander-Arnolds a cross from
deep on the right, Mane breaks beyond the defence (with a hint of offside,
actually) and glances his header into the net
MY
OPINION
This was that Little bit of genius
the most win in their history they best defence in the league but a sequence of
draws and a confusing decision for City against Brighton was what made the difference.
Liverpool only lost one game this season and it was the one that d3efined it
City away around about Christmas and if they got a point here but this has to
be considered the best team never to Have won the league.
MAN U 0-2 CARDIFF
DALOT DELIGHTS
Cardiff winger Mendez-Laing received the slightest of
touches from Diogo Dalot's sliding challenge to go down in the area, before
picking himself up to beat David De Gea from the spot
And the visitors' second summed up United's season, with
some calamitous defending allowing Mendez-Laing to slot in unmarked after half
time and double an advantage Cardiff would hold comfortably.
MY
OPINION
United have had a poor season
this year and things must change at least under Solsar as he will be put under scrutiny
very suddenly as he belonged to the fans but Cardiff must have a sense of
delight from the win
SOUTHAMPTON 1-1
HUDDERSFIELD
DEPORITE DEPOSITES
A Ward-Prowse corner from the right came in to the back post
and Hoedt nodded it down to Austin, who reacted quickest to stoop down and head
in for his sixth goal of the campaign
A Smith cross from the right drops between Yoshida and
Stephens and there is Depoitre on hand to head home from a few yards out
MY
OPINION
The Huddersfield fans must be
happy to get this away point as this has ended a poor season for tem in the
Premiere League. I think this team has been capable of getting bigger results
but have not shown that quality
SPURS 2-2 EVERTON
SUPER SIGERSUN
Everton allow Jan Vertonghen too much space along the
left and he swings in a measured cross from Adebayor to scramble home from
close range. What an explosive start to the afternoon!
Leighton
Baines swings in a corner from the right, and the Toffees captain
rises at the back post to nod the ball beyond Lloris and make it 1-1. It was a
tame header that caught the Spurs keeper off guard.
Kevin Mirallas. The Belgian international picks up Victor
Anichebe's pass and shows off his skill and pace, dancing past three defenders
and finding the bottom corner!
Walker got in ahead of Baines and squared the ball for
Adebayor to strike. His effort came back off the post, and Sigurdsson tucked
away the rebound from close range.
MY
OPINION
This was lucky for Spurs as they
assured their ECL qualification with this huge win and this has been a bad
result going into that final. They should have made more of a thing of it as it
is their last one. They could have got their fans singing
WATTFORD 1-4 WEST HAM
NOBLE NICKS IT
West Ham were two up against the run of play at the break,
after captain Noble capped a fine individual effort by slotting home from the
edge of the box on 15 minutes and Manuel Lanzini reacted quickest to nod home
after Ben Foster had tipped Michail Antonio's drive onto the bar.
But while the impressive Gerard Deulofeu pounced on a Pablo
Zabaleta error immediately after the restart to give Watford hope
Despite some brave initial resistance from Watford they were
again slowest to the rebound when Marko Arnautovic slid in his 10th of the
season after Felipe Anderson had volleyed against a post. Noble then put the
result beyond doubt when he coolly slotted in from the spot after Kiko Femenia
had tumbled Antonio in the box
MY
OPINION
This was a strong performance by
the hammers and they would like for this to roll on but the season is over now.
I feel that maybe Watford were mentally on vacation in this match as they did
seem to be there at that moment
