PRO 14
BLUES 41-17 SCARLETS
LASNE AND SOMMERHILL
DOUBLE KILL
First-half tries from Owen Lane, Aled Summerhill, Josh
Turnbull and the flawless boot of Gareth Anscombe gave Blues a 38-0 half-time
lead.
But two tries from substitute Rob Evans and a late
interception by Ioan Nicholas made the score more respectable.
Blues' only sour note of the night was losing Josh Navidi in
the second minute with a suspected dislocated elbow, but even he left the field
with a wry smile - perhaps he knew what was coming.
MY
OPINION
This win has done the damage to
put the Blues in with a real chance of reaching the Champions Cup come the end
of the season. Scarlets are not out of the picture at the moment but they now
know that every win in curtail.
CONNACHT 29-14 TREVISO
HEALY DOUBLE GIVESW
IRISH SHOCK VICTORY
Fly-half Jack Carty came off the bench to steer the Irish
province to a last-gasp bonus point at the Sportsground.
Connacht took the lead through Caolin Blade and Matt Healy
but Benetton drew level when Antonio Rizzi and Dewaldt Duvenage scored in
either half.
Carty's introduction proved decisive as he created Healy's
second score before clinching the bonus try at the death.
MY
OPINION
This was a huge shock in the
world of this seasons rugby as Treviso have had an awesome season and seem to
be ready for a big push but I think they need another year in Challenge cup
rugby and maybe reach a semi-final before going into the Champions Cup
EDINBURGH 28-11
LEINSTER
FANTAASTIC FORD
A WP Nel score and a penalty try cancelled out Sean Cronin's
touchdown to give the home side a slender 14-11 half-time lead.
Ross Ford ploughed over to stretch Edinburgh's advantage and
Bill Mata ensured they took maximum points.
MY
OPINION
This was a shock result and
gives Leinster the reality check that they need as they would have expected an
easy win and Edinburgh confidence knowing them and Munster will play a similar game.
Leinster will have to rely on the whole team and that is not what they did as
they relied on a few players that could not get them over the line let’s hope
the Irish side put in a better performance on Saturday
OSPREYS 29-20 DRAGONS
EVENS GIVES OSPREYS
BONUS POINT
Evans scored four tries, earning a bonus point on his own as
Ospreys avenged their defeat at Rodney Parade in the reverse fixture.
The Dragons, who lost Tyler Morgan to an injured arm, had
led 17-10 at the break as they threatened to pull off an almighty shock at the
Liberty Stadium.
But Evans' display allowed Ospreys to edge ahead after half
time.
Evans became only the second Ospreys player, after Tommy
Bowe, to score four tries in a match and the first to do so in the league.
MY
OPINION
This
has been a horrible season for the Dragos as they know that to avoid finishing
bottom of their conference things will have to change. The Ospreys have got a
slim chance of getting a playoff chance but that is all that it is
ULSTER 29-13 KINGS
BALUCOUNE BLISTFUL
Stuart McCloskey, Rob Lyttle and Marcell Coetzee scored
tries in the first half to help the Irish province to a 21-12 lead at the
break.
Robert Baloucoune and John Andrew crossed in the second
half.
Yaw Penxe, Ulrich Beyers and Mike Willemse were the Kings'
try-scorers.
MY
OPINION
Ulster have got a very hard run
in going into the last few weeks and their European fate is not sealed at this timed
I think that this does breed confidence but picking up at least 10 points will
be vital as they run out their season
GLASGOW 35-17 CHEETAS
MIGHTY MC DONELL
Callum Gibbins and Kyle Steyn scores sandwiched William
Small-Smith's touchdown for Cheetahs, Rory Hughes then putting Glasgow 21-5 up.
Joseph Dweba hit back for the visitors before Stafford
McDowall's try sealed the bonus point for Warriors.
Scott Cummings added their fifth try before Small-Smith
grabbed his second for Cheetahs at the death.
MY
OPINION
Glasgow have won this to keep
their semi-final hopes alive in this must win match for them to seal top spot.
There are no big matches in for them next week so they can reflect on the
rights and wrongs of this match.
MUNSTER 31-12 ZEBRE
SUPER SCANNELL
Early tries by Jamie Elliott and Roberto Tenga gave Zebre a
chance of their first-ever win over Munster.
The Irish province mauled their way out of danger as Jeremy
Loughman, Rhys Marshall and Niall Scannell drove over.
Wing Darren Sweetnam and full-back Mike Haley also scored
during an improved second-half by the hosts.
MY
OPINION
Munster were expected to win
this and win it quite comfortably but they should not expect this type of game
when they play in the Champions Cup quarters next week. Their may be very
little here that they can learn except for squad depth
