FA CUP QUARTERS
WOLVES 2-1 MAN U
JEZZ JOTA
He gets his shot away now all right. Moutinho dazzles with
his footwork on the left, rolling back the years and ghosting into the box
before sliding the ball square to the Mexican. He sees his path to goal blocked
and takes a touch behind him, before swivelling and slamming home a low drive.
A deserved lead for Wolves
Wolves play the ball forwards, Shaw hooks a half-hearted
ball to the edge of the Wolves area that is cleared again and this time Jota
picks it up and twists Shaw inside out before leaving him on the deck. The
forward takes a touch into the area and fires the ball past Romero, who perhaps
could have done better.
Shaw scurries up the left wing and plays a low cross to
Rashford who takes a lovely touch to dampen the cross before swivelling and
driving home
MY
OPINION
I think that United should have
made things more uncomfortable before Wolves got their first goal but when the4
got it they knew that had every chance of winning the match. This should now
show Wolves that there is no one they cannot beat in the cup.
SWANSEA 2-3 MAN CITY
AGGY AGUERO
Grimes wastes no time. He pops the ball on the spot and
lashes it into the top left! Swansea, on the ropes pretty much since the
get-go, lead the champions of England!
Swansea play from the back, Nordfeldt slipping a pass out
from his own area. The ball’s soon with James, out on the left. James drifts
inside, then shifts the ball to Routledge, in the middle 30 yards out.
Routledge plays a first-time ball back to Celina down the inside-left channel.
Celina - who missed in farcical scenes from the spot four days ago at West Brom
- opens his body and sends a delightful first-time effort into the top right!
Ederson had no chance!
Walker crosses from the right. Roberts doesn’t manage to
clear. Aguero has a couple of snapshots blocked. The ball breaks left to
Bernardo Silva, who power-curls a delightful effort around Nordferldt and into
the top right! The atmosphere’s changed all right
Sterliing the ball at his feet to the right of the D,
suddenly turns on the jets. He races into the area. Carter-Vickers sticks out a
leg. Sterling goes over, and the ref points to the spot! Aguero slams the spot
kick onto the bottom of the left-hand post. It comes off the base of the post,
flies across the face of goal, and clips Nordfeldt’s trailing heel - he’d gone
the right way - and into the net. What terrible luck for the Swansea keeper.
Bernardo Silva curls a lovely low cross on from the
left. At the near post, Aguero stoops to guide a sensationally good header into
the bottom left!
MY
OPINION
This shows to me that City have
the potential to win all 4 competitions this season as they looked as if they
were dead and buried at 2-0m but were able to come back into the game in the
last 15 minutes a thing all the big sides have that ability to do
WATTFORD 2-1 PALICE
GALLIANT GREY
Pereyra bursts down the middle then drifts wide left. He
wedges a delicious ball into the area, where Gray - who has been on the pitch
for two minutes and one second - swings a first-time shot into the bottom left!
Guaita had no chance!
mARIPPA charged down by Batshuayi, who tears down the Palace
left, cuts into the area, and whips a shot across Gomes and into the bottom
right! A lovely finish ... but what sloppy defending by Mariappa. Maybe he
should take up eating meat again.
That corner goes long as well, and from it, Cathcart wins
yet another corner on the right. Holebas sends it into the mixer. Guaita comes
out and flaps. The ball breaks to Cathcart, on the left-hand corner of the
six-yard box. He taps it instinctively into the middle for Capoue, who roofs
one from close range!
MY
OPINION
For Watford this might be their
best chance of getting into Europe and this game was tight considering how much
of a difference there is between the two of them in the table. Palace should take
a sense of pride from their performance but should also be disappointed in how they
had their chances but could not take them.
MILLWALL 2-2 BRIGHTON Brighton
won 5-4 on pens
MAGICAL MARCH
This is a monstrous, towering, colossal header! The corner goes
high to the back post, looking for Pearce and Murray, marking him, is blokced
off by Cooper. For a second, time pauses, as everyone knows what can happen,
what surely must happen ... AND IT HAPPENS, Pearce headbutting high into the
net! It’s been coming!
Well! Wallace finds space down the right, nashes to the line
and cuts back and across for O’Brien who forces home.
March dashes around two challenges and cuts back; the ball
ricochets and bounces at the near post as Locadi swivels and absolutely chleanses a
left-footer that rushes high past Martin.
March smacks a curler seeking the back post, and Martin,
thinking it’s going wide, is too far off his line and too late to act; at the
last split split-second, he panics, parries, and pushes it into the top corner
when it might otherwise have gone wide! Well! Solly March has changed this
game!
David Martin the hero! Murray opens his body and prangs
against the bar!
Williams telegraphs his intention and sticks into the far
corner with his left foot!
Locadia scuffs across Martin into the side-netting.
Excellent from Tunnicliffe, a smack above Ryan’s dive.
March lifts a German penalty into the roof of the net.
Leonard wallops home.
Propper cracks hame
Romeo looks nervous, like he’s about to gip, and rightly so;
he opens his body, goes down the middle, and Ryan, who goes left, kicks it
away! That’s a brilliant save!
Stephens does a little jig, runs too straight, and heels
towards the bottom corner
Morison must score ... and does, very cooly.
Dunk whams bottom left as Martin goes bottom right.
Everything about this looks wrong. The run-up is too long,
too straight, and you know it’s going over the bar ... it goes over the
bar,
MY
OPINION
Brighton had that touch of class
needed to win this match with their Premiere League experience and knowing how
to win a dead game. They may be able to use this result to get themselves safe
as for Millwall they have to look at this and try to use their cup form in the
league
