FA PREMIERE LEAGUE
PALICE 1-2 BRIGHTON
KILLER KNOCKART
Tomkins fluffs his clearing header. That’s the rubbish out
of the way. Because after that, it’s quite sensational, as Murray romps clear
down the inside-right channel, and from the edge of the box, pearls an
unstoppable shot across Guaita and into the bottom left! That’s a glorious
finish by the leading scorer in this fixture, and it’s Murray’s 100th goal in a
Brighton shirt!
Townsend has the ball just inside the Brighton box. He drops
a shoulder to the left, in the hope of making some space for a shot. Propper
sticks out a leg and Townsend goes over it. A no-brainer of a decision! What a
poor challenge by Propper. The wind blows the ball off the spot. But
Milivojevic has ice in the veins, and knows what he’s doing from 12 yards. He
calmly whips the penalty into the top right, sending Ryan the wrong way.
Selhurst erupts!
Knockaert is found out on the right touchline with a long
pass. He cuts inside, past van Aanholt, along the front of the Palace box. When
he reaches the right-hand side of the D, he curls a shot towards the top left.
It’s right in the corner, off the angle and in, giving Guaita no chance! That
was a precision whip into the top left!
MY
OPINION
For Brighton this win was huge
as it gets them out of the relegation hole but neither can feel comfortable
with being safe in the league. This could be interesting as these 2 teams fight
for a higher position
CARDIFF 2-0 WEST HAM
HAPPY HOILETT
Ryan Fredericks made a horrible mess of that and Cardiff
have what has to qualify as a shock lead for Neil Warnock’s team. Víctor
Camarasa set up Hoilett after some very West Ham defending.
Camarasa, who had a hand in Cardiff’s first goal, squeezes the
ball past Fabianski.
MY
OPINION
This win has kept whatever hopes
Cardiff have of doing something this season on as we know that if they lost
they might have had an impossible task. West Ham are doing ok but should be
concerned with the loss and who it was against
HUDDERSFIELD 0-2
BOURNMOUTH
WILSON WAKES
BOURNMOUTH UP
Callum Wilson, with Gareth Southgate looking on, has bundled
home for his 50th league goal for Bournemouth, with Ryan Fraser setting up
that.
Lovely goal from Bournemouth, set up by Callum Wilson,
returning the favour from his opener.
MY
OPINION
This result along with a lot of
others to me is just sealing Huddersfield fate in the Championship next season.
I think that this has been a poor season but there and most teams standards.
This win for Bo7urnmouth means they don’t have to worry about relegation for
now.
LEICESTER 3-1 FULLHAM
TOP TIELEMANS
amie Vardy was sent through by James Maddison, rounded
Sergio Rico, and then unselfishly played the ball back to Youri Tielemans,
unmarked, to slot it. That’s champagne stuff from Brendan’s boys.
Ayite’s solo run and a deflected finish makes it another
surprise equaliser. Leicester had been comfortable.
For his 100th goal for Leicester, Vardy is played through
Fulham’s gaping gate by James Maddison and slots home.
It didn’t take 101 for Vardy too long to arrive. Fulham are
always obliging. Nice win for Brendan on day one in his new home.
MY
OPINION
A very good win here for the
foxes that will make things very difficult for Fulham with their next 2 games coming
up they could effectively go down along with Huddersfield. Leicester should be
very happy with a mid-table finish
NEWCASTLE 3-2 EVERTON
PEERFECT PEREZ
Lovely work from Bernard and Lucas Digne results in a delicate header from Calvert-Lewin.
Everton went down the other end of the field and scored off
Newcastle penalty. Newcastle fans raging.
A sweet volley from the Venezuelan puts Rafa’s Toon Army
back in the game. Good work from Perez set him up.
Oh well, at least Jordan Pickford’s unwarranted stay on the
field will now be welcomed by Toon fans. It was his catastrophic error that
gifted Newcastle an equaliser. Someone who looked so confident last summer has
become a nervous wreck.
Wow. Perez escapes that ailing Everton defence, with a hint
of offside, though phases of play means by the time he was through to score, he
was back onside. Oh dear, Everton.
MY
OPINION
This is a win that should secure
Newcastle’s fate in the Premiere League but for Everton being 2-0 up to lose a
game 3-2 must be seen as a real stress. Everton normally are not in the
position they are in right now and would need some big results for their fans
SOUTHAMPTON 2-1 SPURS
VILO VARDY
It had to be Harry, set up by Dele Alli for a calm finish.
Spurs have been purring on the South Coast.
Why don’t you come over, Yann Valery? The second goal in a
week from the Frenchman, and Tottenham, so dominant in the first half, have
been pegged back
Lucky escape for Kyle Walker-Peters, who has only been red-carded
for a foul on galloping Josh Sims. No escape for Tottenham, though, when
Ward-Prowse steps up to smash in a typically excellent free-kick.
MY
OPINION
From a team contending for the
title to one who in a few weeks might find it difficult to stay in the top four
they have had a very se saw season but Spurs are just now going on that bad rut
and they dont6 have the time to change things
MAN CITY 3-1 WATTFORD
SUPER STERLING
With the game goalless at the start of the second half,
Sterling was challenged by Daryl Janmaat as he ran on to Sergio Aguero's flick
and the ball cannoned off him and into the net.
Sterling was clearly offside when Aguero chested the ball
into his path and the lineman's flag went up. But, after a long discussion with
his fellow official, referee Paul Tierney overruled his decision, to the
disbelief of the Hornets players.
There was no disputing the legality of Sterling's second
goal, which came only four minutes later when he tapped in Riyad Mahrez's cross
at the far post after a flowing City move.
And, just before the hour mark, the 24-year-old England
forward made it 3-0, running on to a David Silva pass and cutting past two
defenders before slotting home his 18th goal of the season.
Troy Deeney and Gerard Deulofeu - two of those to be left
out.The pair combined seconds later to pull a goal back with their first
touches when Deeney flicked on a long ball for Deulofeu to fire home with his
side's first shot, after 66 minutes.
MY
OPINION
I think that Watford had too
much interest in the cup to give City a real go and I think that this was a bit
of a disappointment as we don’t know what would have happened if 5they gave them
a real go. City did the job they were asked to do now they move on
LIVERPOOL 4-2 BURNLEY
MAGICAL MANE
The Clarets took a shock sixth-minute lead when Ashley
Westwood scored direct from a corner, although it appeared Reds' goalkeeper
Alisson had been impeded by James Tarkowski.
But the hosts were only behind for 13 minutes before Roberto
Firmino tapped in after Tom Heaton had fumbled Mohamed Salah's cross.
In a first half played in strong wind and hailstorms,
Liverpool took the lead when Sadio Mane curled a shot past Heaton.
Firmino scored his second following Heaton's poor clearance
and Burnley pulled one back late on through Johann Berg Gudmundsson from six
yards out.
But there was no fightback as Mane then went around the
Clarets' keeper in injury time for his second and Liverpool's fourth to seal
the win, which leaves Jurgen Klopp's side one point behind City with eight
league games of the season remaining.
MY
OPINION
This keeps Liverpool in the hut
and that is all that it does for now and there is still that hope that
Liverpool can get the acquired points to win the title but they are slim as
who, City are.. I think that Burnley now are back in a relegation struggle and
that they will find it almost impossible to get out of.
CHELSEA 1-1 WOLVES
HAZZARD HAILED
It was a nice, swift move from one box to another. Jimenez
found Jota and continued his run; before he knew it, his accomplice had played
him one-on-one with Kepa and odds-on to score. In the event, Azpilicueta slid
in at the last and got a lot on the ball – but it bobbled in slow motion beyond
the keeper and in. Wolves went wild!
Chelsea work the left-sided corner short and Hazard,
getting an iota of space 25 yards out for the first time all afternoon, cracks
an outstanding low finish across Patricio and into the far corner!
MY
OPINION
This was a real chance for
Chelsea to make a dent in the race for fourth place and I am very disappointed that
they did not take it. Wolves should be happy with the point as it keeps them a
good position.
ARSENAL 2-0 MAN U
XHAKA ZTOP ZOLSAR
RUN
Switzerland midfielder Granit Xhaka beat David de Gea with a
swerving shot from outside the penalty area, which the United keeper was
expected to stop.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang doubled the hosts' lead from the
penalty spot after Fred's foul on Alexandre Lacazette.
MY
OPINION
A result like this to me will
see whether or not Ole can get united out of this whole and can change the dynamics
like he did against PSG as this result does say to me that they are beatable in
every sense.
