27-1-19 fa cup 4th round
FA CUP 4TH
ROUND
BRISTOL CITY 2-1 BOLTON
ELAISSON ELATED
Defender Mark Beevers had converted from Luca Connell's
pinpoint cross to put Bolton ahead after six minutes.
But Callum O'Dowda levelled the contest for the hosts two
minutes later.
Niclas Eliasson decided the tie with a sublime individual
goal, cutting in from the right before unleashing an effort into the top
corner.
MY
OPINION
Bristol were very good at
reacting while Bolton did not have that ability. I think that Bolton need to
look at this ability and how to fix it. This could be a factor to why they get
relegated at the end of the season. Bristol City are pushing towards a playoff
spot and could use the cup to see where they would stand against the big teams.
ARSENAL 1-3 MAN U
LOVELY LINGUARD
Sanchez has struggled to produce his best form since
swapping Emirates Stadium for Old Trafford a year ago but was at his sharpest
to take Romelu Lukaku's superb reverse pass in his stride and round Petr Cech
to give United a 31st-minute lead.
Lukaku was the creator again two minutes later as Jesse
Lingard's precise finish doubled United's advantage - and even though
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang pulled one back before the interval, Solskjaer's side
were always in control.
MY
OPINION
United are on a run at the moment
and it does not the same team as before we don’t really know what they can do
this season. I think that they might be able to challenge Spurs for 3rd s;pot on the run that they are on. Arsenal would
be happy with a Europa \League spot
ACCRINGTON 00-1 DERBY
WAGHORN WIPES CLEAN
In front of a club record 5,397 crowd at the Wham Stadium,
midfielder Daniel Barlaser was sent off for two bookings.
Waghorn struck from close range after the League One hosts
failed to deal with a short corner.
Derby also finished with 10 men after defender Jayden Bogle
received a straight red card in injury time.
MY
OPINION
Derby are sitting comfortably in
6th in the play offs so probably expected the win here but it might
be a bit of a worry for Lampard by how much they one and having a man being
sent off at the end of the match. Accrington are sitting in 125th in
league one so maybe could have set their sole focus on that one match.
BRIGHTON 0-0 WBA
SCORELESS DRAW HELPS
NO ONE
Both sides hit the woodwork, with Brighton's Dale Stephens
shooting against the post and Tosin Adarabioyo heading onto the bar for West
Brom.
Brighton were the better side in a poor first half, but the
visitors improved after the break.
MY
OPINION
This is a match between two very
even sides and I could see it go to penalties yes there is a division between the
2 sides but I don’t think it will matter and I can see the same thing happen at
West Brom so pot luck might decide it
DONCASTER 2-1 OLDHAM
WACKY WHITMAN
Ben Whiteman got the opener with a 25-yard shot on 68
minutes which deflected in to deceive keeper Daniel Iversen.
Oldham then levelled on 84 minutes when Gevaro Nepomuceno's
free-kick looped up awkwardly and Peter Clarke scrambled in the rebound from
four yards.
But Whiteman won it with a 90th-minute penalty, given for
handball on the say-so of the referee's assistants.
MY OPINION
This was not that much of a
shock but you do wonder what could happen if Doncaster met one of the big boys
in the next round as this was not the greatest of performances.
MAN CITY 5-0 BURNLEY
DE BRUN DEMOLUTION
The hosts, who last won the FA Cup in 2011, took a 23rd-minute
lead when Jesus scored with a low strike after a fine run. That miss proved to
be costly as Bernardo Silva's shot went through Nick Pope's hands, before De
Bruyne added a third with a powerful effort.
Long's own goal made it 4-0 and an Aguero penalty, after
David Silva was fouled, sealed the rout.
MY
OPINION
Man City can put in performances
like this one against Premiership opponents at will and it does make you wonder
what they can do and whether they can make their mark in Europe this season as
it is what I think their fans want. I think that will be what they will be
looking at and maybe dropping their guard when it comes up. As for Burnley this
has to be a wakeup call
BORO 1-1 NEWPORT
DEADLY DOLAN
Daniel Ayala’s header just after the break looked to have
settled this fourth-round clash in the home side’s favour but Hartlepool-born
Dolan, who was released by Boro in 2014 without making a first-team appearance,
had other ideas.

MY
OPINION
This was a huge shock as Newport
in mid table in league two were able to get a draw away to play off chasing
Championship Boro. I think Newport were lucky when they got their goal as it
did not give Boro too much time to react.
NEWCASTLE 0-2 WATTFORD
GRAY GRABS GLORY
Gray converted Will Hughes' smart pass on 62 minutes for his
fourth goal of the season.
Javier Manquillo had an effort headed off the line by Ben
Wilmot as Newcastle briefly rallied.
But Success finished off a counter-attack to seal the win in
stoppage-tim
MY
OPINION
I think that in this all
Premiership match it felt like when Newcastle went that goal down they did not
know what to do as this would have been a big thing for the fans to get behind in
the dire straits that they are in. Wattford might have ambition of winning the
cup as they are doing so well in the league.
PORTSMOUTH 1-1 QPR
NAHKI STOPS
NIGHTMARE
League One leaders Portsmouth thought they were heading to
the fifth round for the first time in nine years when Joel Lynch turned a Lee
Brown cross into his own net.
But Nahki Wells levelled for Championship side QPR soon
after when he pounced from a scrappy corner.
MY
OPINION
Portsmouth seemed like the
better side even though they are in the lower position at the moment and I
think that results like this can give them the boost for Automatic promotion but
it was their own error that could have lost them the game
SHREWSBURY 2-2 WOLVES
DEADLY DOHERDY
Straight after half-time Wolves found themselves falling
behind. Following good play in the centre of the pitch by Okenabirhie, who
drove forwards, taking on Wolves players left and right. He passed a cute pass
out to Docherty on the right who cut inside and fired an unstoppable shot past
Ruddy into the top corner.
But it was Shrewsbury who got second goal of the game when
Waterfall got on the end of a corner and powered his header past Ruddy from a
matter of yards.
Just four minutes later, Wolves got themselves back in the
game. Jimenez, who was already terrorising the Shrewsbury defence after coming
on, pulled a goal back for the home side when, following good work from Ivan
Cavaleiro who lost his man and crossed from the right, the Mexican was able to
get his shot away inside the area, which flew past Arnold.
Their persistence paid off with three minutes of injury time
played, and Wolves got the equaliser the visiting supporters were craving when
Doherty got on the end of a Traore cross and gave Arnold no chance in saving
his powerful header, sending the fans behind the goal into raptures.
MY
OPINION
This could have been one of the
massive shocks of the tournament so far as Wolves have shown the ability to get
back into a match when they thought that they were down and out but I think
that relegation struggling Shrewsbury must have a sense of pride in this result
SWANSEA 4-1 GILLINGHAM
MYTHICAL MC BURNIE
However, the Scotland forward could not miss when he headed
home Leroy Fer's pinpoint cross on 10 minutes from just six yards.
Swansea were in the ascendency and deservedly doubled their
lead just past the half-hour mark when Connor Roberts and McKay combined, with
McKay's back-heel perfect for McBurnie, allowing him to collect and shoot low
past Tomas Holy.
The League One side responded well to going in two goals
behind and sniffed a chance of a comeback when Rees' firm header from Mark
Byrne's perfect cross made it 2-1 with only five minutes gone in the second
half.
Swansea had several chances to reaffirm their advantage,
with Mike van der Hoorn denied from inside the six-yard box by some last-ditch
defending, before Celina collected and blasted into the top corner from 25
yards to make the result safe.
McKay's close-range fourth added gloss
MY
OPINION
The Swans have shown here that
they can do damage when needed and have the ability to kill a game off and
could use this result to push on into the playoffs in the Championship then y
looked impressive. Gillingham can now focus on staying in league one as it is a
massive thing.
MILLWALL 3-2 EVERTON
WALLICE WINS IT
Richarlison fires Everton ahead with a shot from
outside the box that took a deflection off Shaun Hutchinson. The ball bounced
in front of the diving Jordan Archer, who misjudges the flight and allows it to
squirm under his body.
Jake Cooper gets to it and heads it into the mixer, where
Lee Gregory out-jumps Lucas Digne to send a looping header over Jordan Pickford
and into the net.
From the edge of the penalty area, Gylfi
Sigurdsson plays a neat through-ball into the path of Cenk Tosun, who gets in
behind the Millwall defence to dispatch the ball beyond Jordan Archer with
a scuffed shot.
The free-kick was needless and Ferguson sent the ball into
the penalty area. Following a scramble in which Jake Cooper handled the ball,
he eventually guided it home. Murray Wallace took a shot from close range that
was saved by Pickford, but the ball broke to Cooper who controlled it with his
hand before steering it home.
Shaun Williams played the ball into the mixer from the right
touchline, Hutchinson got the knockdown and Murray Wallace sweeps home from a
few yards out.
MY
OPINION
Everton to me would have been a
team that I thought could challenge for the cup considering the fact they are
mid table I the Premiership and I think deserve a cup run. Millwall are struggling
in the Championship so the fact that they were able to get this win was huge
thing but Everton must learn how to defend set plays.
AFC WIMBLENDON 4-2 WEST
HAM
CONELLY CLINCHES IT
Anthony Wordsworth's neat pass found Appiah and his effort
from just outside the area deflected off Angelo Ogbonna and beyond a
wrong-footed Adrian
Wagstaff stole the ball off Obiang in midfield before
driving forward and finishing low into the corner.
He Dons went further ahead seconds after the restart
courtesy of Wagstaff's neat flick from Appiah's cross.
Even when West Ham reduced the arrears to 3-2, AFC Wimbledon
continued to push men forward and were rewarded when 19-year-old substitute
Sibbick nodded home Wordsworth's teasing cross to seal the win.
Dylan Connolly - making his first AFC Wimbledon start since
joining from Dundalk at the start of this month - symbolised their positive approach.
The 23-year-old Irishman was a constant threat down the right flank and was
deservedly given a standing ovation when he was substituted late on.
MY
OPINION
Wimbledon are in some serious
problems at the moment and this result will probably not help their leaguer
position. I think that West Ham must look at what went wrong and what is needed
to fix it. West Ham could have had a cup run to push them into a European
Position.
PALICE 2-0 SPURS
TERRIFIC TOWNSEND
Joel Ward with half a break down the right, his inside pass
was into Schlupp who burst into the area, past a meek Sanchez tackle and then
pulled the ball back to Wickham. Gazzaniga parried but straight into the path
of the Palace striker who had an open goal from about three yards.
Townsend. Left footed to Gazzaniga’s right, the Spurs keeper
diving the other way. No messing. No celebration.
MY
OPINION
I think that in this all
Premiership match it was a bit of a disappointment that Spurs did not show up
as we know they are better than this. This result could mean so much to so many
players in the Spurs team as some may now want6 to leave.
CHELSEA 3-0 SHEF WED
WACKY WILLIAM
Azpilicueta turns in the box and is fouled by Hutchinson.
VAR is called for, but there can be no doubt. That was a cleaning out of
the Chelsea captain. A stutter
step, and Westwood is sent the wrong way as Willian converts.
What a goal, and how much does the price-tag go up? Lovely
pass to find Hudson- Odi, a cut inside and a shot that Westwood might have done
better with.
Willian starts the move himself, Giroud holds the ball up
and his flick finds the Brazilian, whose finish is unerring.
MY
OPINION
This was that bit of class that
Chelsea seem to have in the cup and they were able to control their opponents
in this match. I think that this was just levels where Chelsea in 6hyn in the Premiership
were just able to destroy Shef Wed 17th in the Championship but Wed
have their own problems at the moment
