19-12-18 PDC WORLD DARTS
PDC WORD DARTS
CHAMPIONSHIP
Afternoon Session
Nathan Aspinall 3-0 Geert Nentjes (R1)
Nathan Aspinall 3-0 Geert Nentjes (R1)
MY
OPINION
An easy win here for Aspanill means
he has learned very little from this match and we cannot see the quality of
player that he is especially as it is in round 1
Jeffrey de Graaf 2-3 Noel Malicdem (R1)
MY
OPINION
The last round 1 match was a bit
of a craker where the underdog got the better of the favourite. De Graf must
now be annoyed at the doubles that he missed to lose the match. You do wonder
how far Manlidem can go from here I don’t think he can go that far
Joe Cullen 0-3 Brendan Dolan (R2)
MY
OPINION
To me this was a happy surprise
not in the fact that Dolan won but how he won and I now think he might be able
to go at least into the next round of the competition. I definitely expected
this to be more of a contest and Cullen will go home annoyed.
Kim Huybrechts 3-0 Daniel Larsson (R2)
MY
OPINION
Huybrechts is a certain outside
bet for the competition as a whole and I think in this performance we got to
see why. I can definitely see him as a threat but the Swede maybe should have
got a set to make the score line look a little better
Evening Session
James Wilson 1-3 William O'Connor (R2)
MY
OPINION
Wilson
probably played the set of the tournament so far in the first when he looked
like he was unstoppable but O Connor was able to hold his nerve and show that there is real potential
there as he relayed off the next 3 sets. I would probably say so far that out
of the players out Wilson would be the happ8iest as he knows he can do that.
Simon Whitlock 0-3 Ryan Joyce (R2)
MY
OPINION
This was the shock of the day
and I just wonder what happened to Simon Witlock as this is not the player that
I know well and have seen all year it was like he was a different player. I
think that Joyce might have the skills to go a couple of rounds
Michael Smith 3-1 Ron Meulenkamp (R2)
MY
OPINION
Smith is one of the players that
has been discussed for so long it is starting to get a bit of a nuisance. Smit I
hope can do something here this year but again the uncertainty of it makes me
feel that little bit nervous.
James Wade 3-2 Seigo Asada (R2)
MY
OPINION
Wade must have expected an easy
tie here as his opponent came from a country not that well known for its darts.
I do think that their might be a rise in quality in Asian darts that made it so
a shock like this could happen but Wade
was able to keep his cool.
