30-4-18 RUGBY PRO 14 FINAL DAY
PRO 14 FINAL DAY
MUNSTER 24-24 ULSTER
BEST DOUBLE ONLY
ENOUGH FOR DRAW
Williams took advantage of a fumble by scrum-half Dave
Shanahan to kick, collect and score the opening try in the third minute, his
half-back partner JJ Hanrahan then landing the first of his three conversions.
Ulster were soon on level terms when Jacob Stockdale picked
up a loose ball and offloaded to Stuart McCloskey, who powered over, Johnny
McPhillips adding the extras.
Fly-half McPhillips kicked a penalty from 40 metres out to
nudge Ulster in front, before Iain Henderson was forced to come off with a knee
injury.
Prop Scott barged over just before the half-hour mark to
restore the hosts' advantage but Munster were reduced to 14 men for a spell
soon after when Robin Copeland was sin-binned.
Best drove over from a rolling maul and the visitors
capitalised on their extra-man advantage again on the stroke of half-time when
the Ireland hooker again crashed over after a powerful maul, McPhillips' two
conversions leaving it 24-14 at the break.
MY
OPINION
This was to dream whether the
season was a success or a failure to most and the fact Ulster could not get the
easy but this season for Ulster has been more of a disaster than most seasons and
now whether Ulster fail in their ambitions will depend on the next few matches.
EDIBURGH 24-19 GLASGOW
VAN DER MERVE GIVES
EDINBURGH SCOTTISH TROPHY
The hosts scored first-half tries through James Johnstone,
Jordan Lay and Duhan van der Merwe.
Glasgow's DTH van der Merwe crossed twice, but Warriors fell
just short.
Callum Gibbins also touched down for Glasgow.
MY
OPINION
This match means very little
after Ulster not being able to get their bonus point. I think that to rule out
Edinburgh as title contenders do it at your Perl. Glasgow look like they did
not want thyis match as their opponents.
