31-1-18 FA PREMIERE LEAGUE
FA PREMIERE LEAGUE
SWANSEA 3-1 ARSENAL
CLUCAS PUTS GUNNERS
IN A BIT OF A PICKLE
A horrendous error from goalkeeper Petr Cech allowed Jordan
Ayew to score a tap-in which put the hosts ahead just after the hour mark,
before Sam Clucas' second goal made the result safe.
Mesut Ozil's sensational pass had allowed Nacho Monreal to
open the scoring for the Gunners, but Clucas levelled for Swansea within a
minute at the Liberty Stadium.
MY
OPINION
After the results tonight we
will be able to see where Swansea are but after beating both Liverpool and
Arsenal Swansea have given themselves a real chance at survival. Arsenal have
got a cushion in 6th position but they do not look like the 6th
best at the moment things must change quickly.
WEST HAM 1-1 PALACE
NOBLE SAVES HAMMERS
The injury-hit hosts trailed to Christian Benteke's header
but drew level from the penalty spot through captain Mark Noble after James
Tomkins brought down Javier Hernandez.
MY
OPINION
Neither team is really playing
for anything this season so this match does not really mean much. A draw is
definitely considered a happy result for both as it gets them closer to the
magic 42 points and safety in the Premiere League.
HUDDERSFIELD 0-3
LIVERPOOL
CAN SHOWS HIS WORTH
TO THE KOP
Emre Can's deflected long-range effort found the bottom
corner to put the Reds ahead midway through the first half, after the hosts'
Laurent Depoitre had missed the best early chance.
Roberto Firmino threaded a finish between goalkeeper Jonas
Lossl and his near post for a second just before the break.
Mohamed Salah took over penalty-taking duties after Firmino's
missed effort in the FA Cup defeat by West Brom.
MY
OPINION
This is the type of performance
Liverpool can achieve. If they could do this o a more regular basis then they
would be title contenders every season. It has also shown me that they can do a
job without Cortinho and can look to Spurs and Porto with a sense of excitement
now rather than a sense of fear. This has been a massive improvement. Complete control
and scoring goals. As for Huddersfield if they put in to many performances like
this they could get into a relegation scrap they are only a point ahead of the
bottom 3.
