29-1-18 FA CUP LAST 32

FA CUP SATURDAY

PETERBOROUGH 1-5 LEICESTER

IHEANACHO EARLY GOALS KILL OFF BORO

Diabate - signed from French side Gazelec Ajaccio - toe-poked in and Iheanacho guided the ball into the corner to put the visitors in control.
Ex-Manchester City forward Iheanacho volleyed home Christian Fuchs' cross for a 3-0 half-time lead.
Posh improved after the break, pulling one back through Andrew Hughes, but Malian Diabate and substitute Wilfred Ndidi struck late on for the Foxes.

MY OPINION

Leicester showed what they have the potential to do in this this match but this was a difference in class. If they had played better opposition in the cup would it have been a better match? Leicester would be a good outside bet for the whole thing.

HUDDERSFIELD 1-1 BIRMINGHAM

JUTKEWICZ SAVES DAY FOR BIRMINGHAM

Steve Mounie headed in Florent Hadergjonaj's cross early in the first half to give Huddersfield the lead.
Ex-Huddersfield loanee Jutkiewicz then pounced on Michael Hefele's mistake to fire past Joel Coleman, and also had an effort disallowed for offside.

MY OPINION

Huddersfield should not be disappointed with a draw in this tie as they are higher in the league than them. I think that The Championship side now will go in with a sense of belief that they can win their replay at their home venue.
HULL 2-1 FOREST

DICKO DIVES DOWN FOR HULL

Jarrod Bowen put Hull in front when he worked past Michael Mancienne and prodded home off the woodwork.
Nouha Dicko headed the hosts 2-0 up from close range, while Mustapha Carayol spurned the chance to pull one back when he headed wide minutes later.
Apostolos Vellios did get a goal back with a neat finish late on from Matty Cash's delivery, but it was not enough.

MY OPINION

I thought for sure after beating Arsenal that Forest would give it more of a go. I was very disappointed about that but Hull are a quality side and do play a good style of football they will be a tough team to play I the next round.
BORO 0-1 BRIGHTON

MIGHTY MURRAY

Murray struck when an attempt by Boro's George Friend to clear a cross from Markus Suttner hit Murray and rebounded past keeper Darren Randolph into the net.

MY OPINION

Boro had showed some real grit in this match and to my disappointment could not come out with a replay. I think that Boro have shown in this match what it i9s that they can do and how they do it. Boro are a good team and can push on into the play offs.

MILWALL 2-2 ROCHDALE

WALLICE WAVES MILLWALL A REPLAY

Jed Wallace had earlier put Millwall ahead from the penalty spot following a foul by Donervon Daniels.
But Ian Henderson curled in from 18 yards and Matt Done made it 2-1 to Dale with a tap-in at the back post before Thompson's late contribution.
Midfielder Ben Thompson found the bottom corner late on to deny Dale a place in the last 16.

MY OPINION

This was a good game of football but I think that neither will be a threat to the FA Cup in any way shape or form. Milwall and Rochdale have both shown defensive problems where a big team could come in and destroy them.
MK DONS 0-1 COVENTRY

BRILLIANT BIAMOU

Maxime Biamou's second goal in as many games proved to be the difference.
The French forward put away from inside the six yard box after Marc McNulty's cross evaded the defence.

MY OPINION

Coventry is a team that I like a few of you remember being in the Premiere League and some of you might remember them winning the FA Cup.  In the 1980s but this team has went backwards from that point and I do wonder what would happen even against Premiere League opposition.

NOTS CO 1-1 SWANSEA

SUPER STEAD GIVES COUNTY REPLAY

Premier League strugglers Swansea, who are 50 league places above County, had gone ahead through Luciano Narsingh.
Stead, 34, kept up his record of scoring in every round of this season's competition, touching in Jorge Grant's cross for the League Two side.

MY OPINION

After beating Wolves in the last round and having that win over Liverpool on Monday you have that sense of faith that Swansea would have won this tie quite easily. Understanding it they scored their first goal too late and this gave Nots County hope for a replay.

SHEF UNITED 1-0 PRESTON NE

LUCKY UNITED WITH SHARP PEN

Billy Sharp's penalty helped Sheffield United beat Preston to reach the fifth round of the FA Cup.

MY OPINION

You cannot say who deserved to win this tie if anyone as this game was more about luck rather than anything else that won it for Shef United. Lu8ck can do 6you well a cup.

SOUTHAMPTON 1-0 WATTFORD

SUPER STEPHENS SAINT

Stephens converted from close range to provide some relief for the hosts who are winless in 11 league games.

MY OPINION

An early goal can sometimes make a huge difference in a cup tie as it means that the opposition have to have a plan B and Watford’s was not that strong. Southampton can show that they can compete and beat teams now and have hope of moving up the league.

WIGAN 2-0 WEST HAM

WILL GRIGGS ON FIRE

Griggs early towering header opened the scoring before he added a second-half penalty.

MY OPINION

The way that this competition is running I would not be surprised if Wigan made a massive cup run and even to say that with where they stand in their own league they might be outsiders for he FA cup itself. I was disappointed in West Ham as we know that with the players that they have at their disposal what exactly it is that they can do. This was not that.

NEWPORT COUNTY 1-1 SPURS

KANE SAVES SPURS EMBARRASSMENT

Padraig Amond's header gave Newport the lead in the first half before Harry Kane's 82nd minute equaliser kept Spurs in the competition that they have won eight times.

MY OPINION

This is not the Spus we have seen over the season this team must show sense that they can improve. As an attacking force they have one of the best in the wold with players like Hun Min Ali and Kane but there must be something wrong in their defence but they can look at their first half here and see everything that went wrong.
LIVERPOOL 1-3 WBA

RODREGUEZ KILLS OFF KIOP BUT VAR SAVED KOP TWICE

Rodriguez thumped an equaliser seconds after Roberto Firmino chipped an opener, then slotted Albion 2-1 up.
Joel Matip's own goal made it 3-1, before Mohamed Salah pulled one back.

MY OPINION

This was a game about VAR decisions more than anything else but I do wonder if Firminho had have scored the penalty to make it 2-2 would it have been a different game. Liverpool again are showing this ability to lose to smaller teams and beat the bigger ones and this might ruin their season can van Dyke sort out the defence. Is Klopp going to bring in someone for the fans? Can Liverpool show improvement I am not sure of any of it?

FA CUP LAST 32 SUNDAY

CARDIFF 0-2 MAN CITY

SUPER STERLING

A record crowd for Bluebirds games at the Cardiff City Stadium was dumbfounded into silence as Kevin de Bruyne cheekily rolled a free-kick under the jumping wall to give the visitors a lead, which Raheem Sterling doubled with a header before half-time.

MY OPINION

Man City do look good in this match. They also look on fire through this season. They show that they can outclass the welsh side so much that they had to send a player off at the end. I never really saw Cardiff having a chance during the competition and Chelsea will improve.

CHELSEA 3-0 NEWCASTLE

BRILLIANT BATSHUARI

Batshuayi rounded off a superb move to open the scoring for the 2017 finalists after the home side had made a slow start before putting the finishing touch to another Chelsea break just before half-time.
Alonso's free-kick, which took the defender to a career-best seven goals in a season, sealed the win for the home side with Newcastle unable to build on an encouraging opening 30 minutes.
MY OPINION
This was a disappointing game for Newcastle. The question here is now can the toon improve or will they be in a relegation struggle. I think that Chelsea are showing signs that they are learning and will be playing Champions League next season there is such a difference.
