CROATIA 4-1 GREESE
MODERIC MAKES MAGIC
Greek keeper Orestis Karnezis' clumsy touch led to him
conceding an early penalty, which Luka Modric converted.
Nikola Kalinic was unmarked to tap in a second but Sokratis
Papastathopoulos' fine header gave Greece an away goal.
Ivan Perisic headed Croatia's third before half-time before
Andrej Kramaric tapped in after a botched backpass.
Konstantinos Stafylidis' attempt to chest the ball back to
his keeper summed up Greece's defensive display as Sime Vrsaljko stole in to
square, giving Kramaric an empty net.
MY
OPINION
Grease are now going to have to
try and not concede and score 3 goals at home but this will lead to a Croatia
break time after time and I feel that this will lead Grease to having a lot of
the ball but being afraid to push forward.
NI 0-1 SWITZERLAND
RODRIGUEZ GETS LUCKY
PENALTY
Ricardo Rodriguez
scored with a penalty just before the hour mark after Corry Evans was deemed to
have handled inside the area.
Though that decision was harsh as the ball clearly struck
the defender's shoulder, the visitors were dominant throughout and might have
won by a greater margin had they converted a series of other chances.
MY
OPINION
The Swiss penalty was not a
penalty but how could it be seen as a penalty I am not sure but when the
referee had to make the same sort of decision for Northern Ireland he could not
see it. Incidents like this do make you ask why there has not been video
technology being introduced. Josh Magneus played a solid game but had few
chances.
