27-9-17 champions league tuesday
UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE
GROUP E
SEVILLA3-0 MARIBOR
YIPPEE YIPPEE YEDDER
Ben Yedder made no mistake from point-blank range after
being teed up by the excellent Joaquin Correa 27 minutes in.
It took Ben Yedder just 11 minutes to double his tally,
drilling a low effort in off the post to put Sevilla in cruise control.
Yedder hit his third goal in the second half drilling in from the penalty spot.
MY
OPINION
This was a very easy win for
Seville and there ambition of reaching the last 16 is a lot easier. They have
got a star who can make that difference and change a game in an instant but
this is not the most difficult group. I would be surprised if they cannot get
their act together. As for Maribor they might be out already.
SPARACK MOSCOW 1-1
LIVERPOOL
CORTINHO SAVES
LIVERPOOL POINT
Spartak went ahead against the run of play when Loris Karius
was easily beaten by Fernando's free-kick after Philippe Coutinho's foul just
outside the area.
Klopp fielded forwards Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, Sadio
Mane and Coutinho in the same game for the first time, and the latter two
combined for Coutinho to equalise with his first Champions League goal.
MY OPINION
Liverpool had good chances to
win this game and if you have problems at the back and up front you are in a
bit of trouble. They had simple chances that they could have put away by Sturridge
and Firminho from a simple cross. But I would say this should be the most
unpredictable group. For Moscow they will now have real hope of reaching the
last 16 after not been seen to have the quality by many.
GROUP F
MAN CITY 2-0 SCHAKTAR
DE BRUN DOWNS
SHACTAR
Belgium midfielder De Bruyne exchanged passes with the
excellent David Silva before curling in his first goal of the season from the
edge of the area. Raheem Sterling added a late second from fellow substitute
Bernardo Silva's cutback.
Striker Sergio Aguero, looking to equal Eric Brook's
all-time goalscoring record for City, suffered a rare off night and had a
second-half penalty saved by Shakhtar's Andriy Pyatov.
MY
OPINION
Man City will be going in with
more and more confidence as they still have this belief that they can win the
Champions League but for them it will take a bit of time but this was another
easy win for them as they are showing there is no one that they can’t beat. Schactar
will be disappointed at loosing the first goal but City were a better side.
NAPOLI 3-1 FEYENOORD
INSIGNE EARLY GOAL
KILLS DUTCH
Lorenzo Insigne's opener saw the goal scorer hunt down his
team-mate's shirt and Dries Mertens, after scoring again at the start of the
second half.
Mertens' 50th Napoli goal at the San Paolo soon came,
though, and Jose Callejon added a third after Pepe Reina kept out a Jens
Toornstra penalty at the other end, before a consolation for Feyenoord and
Sofyan Amrabat arrived in stoppage time.
MY
OPINION
Napoli in this match have said
to me that we are here and that we can do something this season. I was disappointed
in the Dutch and how |Dutch football has went backwards in the last 15 years
they do need to change things now as things are also going wrong for the
national side as they are world ranked very low.
GROUP G
BESIKTAS 2-0 LEIPZIG
BRILLIANT BABBEL
Ryan Babel netted an early opener before Anderson Talisca put
the hosts in full control prior to half-time to end a run of six matches
without a victory in the competition on their own turf.
Vodafone Park was draped in darkness when the floodlights
went out midway through the second half, the halt in play only serving to
stifle any chances of a late Leipzig response.
MY
OPINION
Ryan Babbel is showing the
quality that we know that he could have at Liverpool but seemed to be lost. As
for the German side this is not the best start to a European campaign as only
having a point from 2 games and after coming from nowhere the fans of football
would want them to be more competitive.
MONACO 0-3 PORTO
AWSOME ABOUBAKAR
The hosts were punished near the half-hour mark for sloppy
defending and Aboubakar made it 2-0 in the 69th minute on the break.
Porto had a big chance before substitute Miguel Layun sealed
Porto's win in the 89th.
MY
OPINION
An easy win here for Porto
brings them back into the race for places in this group and Aboubkar has shown
that he can do a job for the Portuguese side as for Monaco we are starting to
learn that money does not always buy you success.
GROUP H
APOL 0-3 SPURS
KANE MOVES UP
ANOTHER LEVEL
Kane - who also scored twice in Spurs' opening win over
Borussia Dortmund - put his side ahead in the 39th minute, slotting into the
bottom-left corner from Toby Alderweireld's pass.
The England striker then calmly stroked in Moussa Sissoko's
cross from the edge of the penalty area in the 62nd minute to double the lead.
He completed his hat-trick five minutes later with a header
into the bottom corner.
MY
OPINION
This game is more about Harry
Kane and how good he has the potential to be. I think that he could be up there
with forwards like Shearer and Linaker after a performance like that but not
before I saw a hat trick in the Champions League let him build on this and we
can only dream.
DORTMOND 1-3 REAL
RONALDO RUNS RIOT
Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice as holders Real Madrid won
their second game
The former Manchester United man took his tally to 109 in
the competition by converting from Gareth Bale's cutback and lashing in Real's
third.
Welshman Bale had opened the scoring with a superb volley,
while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang netted for Dortmund.
MY
OPINION
In the group stages of the
Champions League in any group real stand apart and again this win was too
simple for them. Understandably there is a lot of pressure on them but when
Real get the early goal nothing can stop them. Dortmund have to look at this
game and find out what exactly is wrong or they have no hope of winning the
Champions league.
