RICHMOND 103-67 GREATER
WESTERN SYDNEY
RIOLI SHOWS HE IS
TOP CLASS
Josh Kelly was important for the visitors with a goal and 17
possessions to halftime, but a brilliant goal to Rioli put the Tigers up by a
point at the main break. Then the Giants’ resistance crumbled as Rioli and
Martin had the yellow-and-black faithful in raptures as the Tigers broke the
game open.
Daniel Rioli played the best game of his short career,
kicking four goals, including two in the pivotal third term. Red-hot Brownlow
Medal favourite Dustin Martin, meanwhile, sprang to life after a quiet first
half by his standards with three goals in a row.
Trent Cotchin, outstanding with 26 possessions, faces a
nervous wait for the match review panel’s assessment of his first-quarter hit
on Dylan Shiel. Cotchin’s shoulder made contact with Shiel’s jaw as he tried to
take possession.
MY
OPINION
Richmond have shown here why
they are a team to be nervous about and the ease of the win in this match does
not help them in any way shape or form. There is very little that they can
learn from a match like this in fact I think that it might set them back.
CROWS 136-75 ADALEDE
BRILLIANT BETTS
Adelaide jumped the Cats, kicking nine of the first 10
goals. Fleet-footed Cameron’s five goals were a career-best return,
complemented by a soaring pack mark in the third quarter. Cameron’s attacking
colleague Josh Jenkins slotted four goals, and Eddie Betts, Taylor Walker, Paul
Seedsman and Tom Lynch bagged two each.
Betts sparked the early onslaught – within the first three
minutes, he had a hand in one goal and kicked another. The masterly forward
later curled a 40m boundary-line set shot.
Adelaide’s vaunted forward line were fed a feast of chances
from the Crouch brothers in midfield – Matt had 31 disposals, Brad 29. Roaming
forward Lynch collected 20 touches, team-mate Sam Jacobs won the rucks and
defender Rory Laird was outstanding with 32 possessions.
Geelong’s linchpin Dangerfield started in attack – and the
Crows kicked four goals in 15 minutes before he was shifted into the midfield.
The Brownlow medallist triggered a mini-revival in the second quarter when the
visitors pulled within 27 points – he finished with two goals and 24 disposals.
MY
OPINION
Another match that is very one
sided and one that is very difficult to learn anything from. This is a good
type of match as it shows to them that they can score well and have got a
chance of winning matches.
THE
FINAL
This is a match between first
and third in the ladder and I think this should lead to an open and interesting
match. If Richmond start well they have a chance butt if Adalede do Richmond find
find it very difficult to compete with them
