RESULTS AND PREDICTIONS 29-6-17 SOCCER
CONFEDERATIONS CUP
SEMIS
PORTUGAL 0-0 CHILE CHILE
WIN 3-0 ON PENALTIES
BRAVO SAVES CHILE ON
PENALTIES
Arturo Vidal, whose shot hit the post in closing stages of
extra-time before Martin Rodriguez's follow up also hit the woodwork, was
successful from the spot for Chile along with Charles Aranguiz and Arsenal
forward Alexis Sanchez.
Bravo denied efforts from Ricardo Quaresma, Joao Moutinho
and Nani as Chile converted all their spot-kicks.
MY
OPINION
This was a surprise for me as I
thought that in most matches Ronaldo would be able to rule the roost and
control the game from start to finish. The game did not go like that at all and
Chile had a penalty claim ruled out in extra time. Video referrals again how
should they be used this will be a great question that they do need to sort out
as I don’t think it will be before the world cup in Russia.
LINFIELD 1-0 LA FORINA
STEWART KEEPS
LINFIELD IN TIE
Linfield continued to press forward and their persistence
was finally rewarded in the dying minutes when Stewart turned his marker and
rounded the goalkeeper to slot home a dramatic winner.
MY
OPINION
Linfield are showing in this
match that if they put in a solid defensive second leg and don’t concede for as
long as they can that is more important than scoring a goal. I don’t think this
tie is over in any way as I feel that it is even. If |Linfield can get a goal
then the whole thing changes but how will they play.
CONFEDERATIONS CUP
Germany: ter Stegen; Ginter, Mustafi, Rudiger; Kimmich,
Goretzka, Can, Hector; Stindl, Draxler; Werner.
Mexico: Ochoa; Layun, Araujo, Moreno, Alanis; dos Santos,
Herrera, Reyes; Jimenez, Hernandez, Vela.
MY
OPINION
Germany have shown tin world cup
qualifying in Europe that they are on fire at the moment and this feels like
the right type of test for them as they plan for the World Cup. Draxlar for me
will be the key for Germany and Vela for Mexico but I think this will be an
open game of football with goals. I feel that Mexico needs to be aggressive from
the start.
I say Germany 4-2
UEFA EUROPA LEAGUE QUALIFING
Lyngby BK v Bangor City 17:30
MY
OPINION
This I would think will be a
close match but I would not stand too much hope for the Wels side as they are
not seen as too much of thing to go into by their own Association. I think as
this tie is away that Bangor will lose it but Henry and Edwards can make a
difference.
I say 2-1 Lyngby in the first
leg and the tie
Bala Town Vs FC Vaduz
19.00
MY
OPINION
Bala have shown that they can
compete in wales but they have to again show they can compete with anyone. They
deserve a break in European football but whether they can play smart at home in
the first leg and get a lead I am not sure. Jones, Hayes and Sheridon will make
the difference in this game but this is more about playing smart.
I think Bala to win the match
and tie
MY
OPINION
Helslinki will be able to play a
better game here and should easily be able to outplay Gap in about 70 minutes
of the match it is just whether in the 10 or 20 minutes whether Gap can play. I
feel that Gap don’t really stand a chance
I say Helsinki 3-0 and winning
the tie
Rangers v Progrès
Niedercorn 19:45
MY
OPINION
Expectation is one thing that
there is at some clubs and if Rangers do not reach at least the group stages
there are fans that would consider it a failure no matter what happens and
might want the manager out. Miller Windass and Haliday can make a difference
I say Rangers 4-0 and winning
the tie
St Johnstone v FK
Trakai 19:45
MY
OPINION
Kane Thomson and Craig should
make it their mission to stamp their personality on the match as I think that
this could be a very even match I would not be confident that either team has
got enough but it is about who makes the point to control the match.
I say 0-0 and St Johnstone on
away goals
FK Haugesund v
Coleraine 18:00
MY
OPINION
Bradley, Hawkin and Mc Loughlin
must finad a way to get control of this game as Europe is where you need to
learn as much as you can about how good you are. I feel that Colrane can get a
result.
I say 1-1 and Haugund to win at
home
Odd v Ballymena United 18:00
MY
OPINION
I don’t think that Ballymena
stand a chance and I feel that they will use this match to play young players
who can get as much from this type of match from their own development.
I say 4-0 Odd and Odd to win the tie
Crusaders v FK Liepaja 19:45
MY
OPINION
I feel that Crusaders do not
stand a chance as I feel that they do not have the quality to pass the first
round. Home games can be tight and I expect that this thing of being the
underdog could play into their hands. Where they are at half time will matter crucially.
I say 2-0 Liepaja and to win the
tie
Levadia Tallinn v Cork
City 16:30
MY
OPINION
Mc Cormack, Breatie and Doolie
have to be seen as the people who can change the game for Cork at any time. I
think that Cork have to look now to Europe as success this season as to what
has happened in previous years. I feel that Cork have got that willingness to
improve and go forward.
I say 1-0 Cork and Cork to win
the tie
Stjarnan v Shamrock
Rovers 20:15
MY
OPINION
Conelly Finn and Boyd all can
make a difference in this match for Shamrock Rovers and the know what it is
like to be in the group stages. We know that the Irish side can compete with
anyone but will that show tonight I am not that sure.
I say a draw and Shamrock Rovers
to win the tie
FC Midtjylland v Derry
City 19:00
MY
OPINION
Deuland, Torp and Sparv for the
Dains could make the difference as the first leg at home will make a huge
difference for the Dains but this is a nightmare draw for Dewrry as they have
full internationals in their squad Mc Namme Farren and Schubert can make a
difference for Derry. I think Derry will have to put in the performance of
their lives to stand a chance.
I say 4-1 FC Midtjylland
