LAST 16 Jamie Lewis found things easy in the first match of the evening with a simple 4-1 win over James Richardson 4-1 and looked to be the surprise package of the competition   Phil Taylor found things very easy against fellow Englishman Keegan brown winning by 4 sets to 0 and has shown the type of form that we have known him for. Scotsman Gary Anderson beat Englishman Steve West by 4 sets to 2 and this type of match might help him going into the next round he is showing why he is being considered one of the best in the world QUARTERS Jamie Lewis a preliminary round qualifier beat Darren Webster by 5 sets to 0 and looks ready for anyone at the moment. If you had have put money on him to reach a semi-final the bookies would pay you back big time. Englishman Rob Cross won 7 legs in a row in to lead 4-1his debut year as a pro against unseeded  Belgian Van Der Bergh brought it back to after winning 6 legs in a row and 8 out of 9 the game went to a final...

PALICE V ARSENAL 29-12-17

FA PREMIERE LEAGUE PALACE  2-3 ARSENAL SUPER SANCHEZ Sanchez struck twice in four minutes after Andros Townsend had cancelled out Shkodran Mustafi's first-half opener. The forward squeezed a clinical strike in at the near post to make it 2-1 before bringing Jack Wilshere's superb ball from his own half under control and flicking into the net. James Tomkins headed in late on but Sanchez's double was enough to secure a win http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42410931 MY OPINION Arsenal did what they had to do to keep the pressure on both Spurs and Liverpool. Palace scoring twice must have saw this as an opportunity missed to get out of the relegation struggle they are in at the moment scoring twice against a big side4 must give them hope.

NEWCASTLE V CITY

Image
FA PREMIERE LEAGUE NEWCASTLE 0-1 MAN CITY STERLING KEEPS CITY RUNNING Raheem Sterling scored the only goal in a dominant display by the visitors to St James' Park in which they clocked up 78% of possession and 21 shots to Newcastle's six. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42410914 MY OPINION City look to be unstoppable at the moment and someone has to find a solution to the problem or they could be a runaway leader for a time to come. You would wonder though where there focus will be in February. Newcastle have the best fans but their team needs improving.

PDC WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP LAST 32 WEDNESDAY Second seed Peter Wright is out of the PDC World Darts Championship after losing 4-1 to Jamie Lewis. Lewis, who had finishes of 125, 123 and 121 on his way to victory. LAST 16 Van Gerwen defeated Gerwyn Price 4-2 while van Barneveld beat Vincent van der Voort 4-1.  Van Barneveld won the last nine legs of his match against another Dutch player in van der Voort, who was close to quitting the sport last year because of a back problem. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/darts/42498206 MY OPINION This is a big quarter final and is a very difficult one to call but I think Van Gerwen will have enough to reach the semi final. I am shocked Wright is out. LAST 16 THURSDAY Englishman Darren Webster cruised to a 4-0 win over Spaniard Toni Alclinas 4-0 and looked to be a player that had got a shot at the title. I think that the Spaniard was not able to get out of the blocks in any way. Austrian Mensuur Suljuvic has had one o...

FA PREMIERE LEAGUE SPURS 5-2 SOUTHAMPTON KANE BREAKS NEW RECORDS Kane headed home his 37th league goal of 2017 on 22 minutes to surpass Alan Shearer's landmark, which was set during his time at Blackburn in 1995. Kane then added two more either side of half-time to bring his total for the year - for both club and country - to 56, two more than Barcelona and Argentina striker Lionel Messi. Before Kane's third, Dele Alli had made it 3-0 on 49 minutes when he drilled in from outside the area, before setting up Son Heung-min two minutes later, who powered a confident finish past Fraser Forster. Southampton, without top scorer Charlie Austin, got off the mark when Sofiane Boufal struck low under Hugo Lloris, and Dusan Tadic added a second with a lofted effort. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42360004 MY OPINION England are developing a striker that they have not had in a while and I think that Spurs will rely a lot on Harry Kane for their goal...

Saturday's results Second Round (Best of 7 sets) Keagan Brown is showing that he has the class to be a potential champion with a 4-2 win over Zoran Lerchbacher from Austria. I think that early wins like this say that there is potential there for him to be a champion in the near future Another former world youth Champion Michael Smith lost in a thriller to fellow Englishman Rob Cross. I am not that sure how deep he can go in the tournament though    Enlishman Steve West remains in the competition after beating Jermaine Wattimena from China this does show the potential of the Asian darts market   This was one of the first real shocks this year as Daryl Gurney from Northern Ireland and a regular quarter finalist lost to John Henderson from Scotland 4-2   Phil Taylor 4-0 Justin Pipe Phil Taylor shows why he is called the Power with a demolition of fellow Englishman Justin Pipe. Taylor looks ready for anyone at the moment. Raymond van Barneveld 4...

PDC WORLD DARTS CHAMPIONSHIP MICHEAL SMITH 3-2 STEVE LENNON Michael Smith, the world No 13, booked his date with 2017 sensation Cross by mixing 10 180s with an astonishing 23 missed darts at double and was punished at every opportunity by Lennon before eventually sealing his last-32 place. SIMOM WITHLOCK 3-1 MARTIN SHINDLER The Aussie took the opening set, pinning double 10 to punish a nervy Schindler who rallied in the second to level the match, despite The Wizard's 11-darter. An astonishing 31 missed darts at double saw the third set open with a whimper but Schindler pinned double one to hold throw before Whitlock did likewise as there remained nothing to separate the pair. JUSTIN PIPE 3-2 BERNIE SMITH In the final match, Bernie Smith, making his World Championship debut, lost six of the opening seven legs to trail 2-0 against Pipe but rallied to force the contest into a deciding set before missing match darts of his own. With the match locked at t...

FOOTBALL LEAGUE CUP BRISTOL CITY 2-1 MAN U SUPER SMITH SMILES After an even first hour, Joe Bryan's rasping left-foot strike across goal into the top corner gave the Robins a shock lead at a packed Ashton Gate. Their advantage lasted just eight minutes, with Zlatan Ibrahimovic marking his first start since 20 April with a low free-kick past Luke Steele, before Smith struck. Smith's winner came turn and strike in the final minute of time added on http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42334221 MY OPINION This was the shock of the round by far and now they have a task just as difficult in the semi but a result like this says they are capable of anything but United must learn their lessons from this and be ready for the weekend. CHELSEA 2-1 BOURNMOUTH MIGHTY MORETA Willian opened the scoring, capping a fine team move which resulted in Cesc Fabregas squaring for the Brazilian to tap home. Bournemouth thought they had forced extra-tim...

DAY 5 PDC WORLD DARTS Paul Lim won two matches at Alexandra Palace on Monday night to book a clash against third seed Gary Anderson in the second round of the PDC World Darts Championship. Mensur Suljovic had to overcome Kevin Painter and a troublesome wasp as he won 3-0 in his opening match of the PDC World Darts Championship.  Daryl Gurney progressed to the second round of the PDC World Darts Championship with a 3-1 victory over Ronny Huybrechts in an entertaining encounter. DAY 6 PDC WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS Two-time PDC World Champion Adrian Lewis suffered a shock defeat on Tuesday night when defeated 3-1 by little-known German thrower Kevin Munch. Raymond van Barneveld started his PDC World Darts Championship campaign a 3-0 victory over Richard North in the first round at Alexandra Palace. John Henderson progressed to round two of the PDC World Darts Championship with a simple 3-0 success against Finland's Marko Kantele on Tuesday evening.

FOOTBALL LEAGUE CUP ARSENAL 1-0 WEST HAM WELKBACK WAKES GUNNERS  England forward Danny Welbeck broke West Ham's resistance just before the break, turning in Mathieu Debuchy's header across goal. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/42318861 MY OPINION I think that Arsenal have now got a good chance of winning this whole competition which will do Arswen a favour with the fans as it might give him the years he needs to achieve his long term vision. He has been there for a long time and has probably coached the coaches so everyone looks us to him which can be an error. MAN CITY 1- 1 LEICESTER MAN CITY WIN 4-3 PENS SILVA LUCK SAVES CITY Man City winger Bernardo Silva scored the opener in the first half, slotting home his second goal of the season following Ilkay Gundogan's powerful run from the halfway line. Goalkeeper Claudio Bravo, who saved two spot-kicks in the previous round against Wolves, was again the visitors' hero -...

PDC WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP DAY 2 Phil Taylor made an unconvincing start to his final PDC World Darts Championship appearance as he beat Chris Dobey 3-1. Dimitri Van den Bergh showed just why he's considered a world champion of the future with a sensational performance to beat Stephen Bunting 3-1. Rob Cross eased into the second round of the PDC World Championship with a straight-sets victory over Seigo Asada. DAY 3 Gary Anderson produced bursts of exhilarating darts and some distinctly average ones to whitewash Jeff Smith, who had earlier qualified for the first round by beating Luke Humphries. Jan Dekker recovered from a slow start to beat fellow Dutchman Jelle Klaasen 3-1. Jermaine Wattimena beat Joe Cullen 3-2 to reach the second round of the PDC World Darts Championship, in the match of the tournament so far. Robert Thornton avoided a potential banana skin as he fought off the challenge of qualifier Brendan Dolan to win 3-1 in a pulsating first-round enc...

CHAMPIONS CUP FRIDAY POOL 1 ULSTER 52- 24 QUINS O CONNOR TRY KEEPS ULSTER IN THE GROUP Centre Stuart McCloskey, winger Craig Gilroy, full-back Charles Piutau, lock Alan O'Connor, scrum-half John Cooney and wing Andrew Trimble got the tries. Harlequins also bagged a bonus point with tries by Marcus Smith, Charlie Walker, Ross Chisholm and Dave Ward. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/42332050 MY OPINION Ulster are showing that they have the potential to get out of this group but they have to be able to focus on one match and try to get the bonus point from it. Poor weather conditions meant they could not do it last week but this week Ulster showed their quality. As for quins now they know they are out will they care enough to effect the group? SATURDAY POOL 3 MONPELLIER 36-26 GLASGOW IMMELMAN INSURES MON PELLIER IN CONTROL OF OWN FATE Five tries were scored in the opening quarter; Fraser Brown, Peter Horne and Nick Gr...
